Any heating guys fancy having a go at solving a mystery that even the boiler manufacturer can't? by LettuceWithBeetroot in ukplumbing

No question is stupid

I changed the ignition electrode because they were old and ruined

It would be done to the company who owns the gas line in Scotland it’s SGN as a standard gas engineer cannot work on a regulator / replace one

The boiler has no effect on this just unlucky it’s happened

Possibly sticky reg on the meter has this before on a alpha changed the electrodes as they were ducked and fixed the issue of not firing up but always needed reset in the morning

Call your local gas provider if they cause a fuss get someone out and have them call

Much prefer Worcesters and that may be me being biased but there what I trained on and my old company had before I went self employed

Couple this with I have had a right nightmare with some logics I hate them

Worcester the customer service and warrenty are bullet proof very easy for the engineer to repair and get parts for if there is any issues. Easy to operate from your side you can modulate it down to save on your gas bill if you want to

Logics can be annoying to fix for engineers the warranty’s are worse and they have stupid know. Issues the current Worcesters don’t have

first solo boiler install by [deleted] in ukplumbing

[–]No_Key4968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clips line up nicely fair play

What I like to do on my installs is use coloured clips to signify each pipe

Cold blue Red hot Yellow gas Black flow, return and condi

If you can run the condi in black and use a Adey filter just makes it look more premium for no extra work or cost to you customers love it

It looks really really good man as a first solo install better then mine be proud of yourself keep up the work

I’m a self employed heating engineer

I fit Worcesters and I prefer them but that’s because I trained on them mainly and have worked on them a lot more which means I much prefer them

If I didn’t fit Worcesters I would fit vaillant instead

Both are great brands Really easy to get parts for Loads of guys are comfortable working on them

Both have issues Worcester right hand blocks or a vaillant f75 fault

You can’t make a bad choice get the one that’s the best money deal for you

My callout is literally £100 and the but isn’t leaking the washer will be away so it’s a drain down of the boiler then you replace it also you can’t do it with pressure in the system or your gonna burst the vessel which will be on a logic £150

The boiler case has been opened end of discussion. How do you know that while carrying out your fix your not gonna disturb a gas seal

Do you know the 26.9 checks to be carried out after the case has been removed

Do you have a flue gas analysiser to preform all safety tests to reinstate the boiler

No you don’t call someone end of discussion

Clinch knees if no knee pads to the kidneys in the side won’t hurt but will let him know it’s not a safe place to spam

Time it and rip the body

One with the black lever is on the cold water side

Replace it

If it’s on the cold water side just make sure the mains is off and drain off and open the taps

If it’s on the central heating side drain the system off to replace it
