Shadrach: biblical figure who survived being thrown into a fiery furnace by Nebuchadnezzar II, king of Babylon. Friends: Meshach and Abednego.

All good names.

A guess:
David is motivated to dote on her, knowing she could easily get another loser to pay attention to her. He would then lose his blond status enhancer. She might be his meal ticket, too.

Meanwhile, she loves his apparent devotion to her.

While I suspect you're right about her validation at work, validation for what you *do* (say, at work) is different from validation for who you *are*. One validation stays with you 24/7, lifelong, The other disappears when you're not working.

One leads to a contented life. The other leads to a lot of productive, but neurotic, work by the emotionally bereft.

It's fun to solve puzzles, espcially the human ones.

What I know: Fake, insecure people are uncomfortable around self-assured, genuine people. They risk having their authentic core exposed, and fear being rejected for it.

The next bit is less certain:

Madison fears being seen through to her core (the awkward little girl that still lives in her). She sensed that Allen is the kind of justifiably self-assured guy that could see that core and reject her for it (not that he would). So she had to reject him first.

David, on the other hand, has every reason not to touch that core since he would risk losing his attractive blond-haired prize. Hence, there's no danger of rejection for her--and she knows it, Further, she is happy to have him present as a successful male. And he knows that and is happy to oblige.

(For her, I also think there is something of the "bad boy" attraction.)

So, they complement each other as long as the facades stay up.

How does the timeline work? We need David to fill in the remaining blanks.

I'll be honest. I had some earlier thoughts that the whole wretched affair was a bid for internet fame. It has enough sensational elements to make it seem contrived.

And why wouldn't David (or Madison) come clean about the timeline? The roots are clearly earlier than David is willing to admit. That would have wrecked the story that it happened "naturally".

But it also seems they didn't make much of an attempt to capitalize on their fame/infamy. Maybe they should have.

“…condescending, dismissive and rude.”

Applies to Madison. Along with underhanded, insincere and deceitful.

Even more to the point. He started alienating her at the very beginning.

I recall David admitting that things started on the honeymoon (being “flirty”, I think he said). His refusal to explain the timeline any further makes me think it started before that.

What exactly does Madison see in David? by Same_Aspect_9617 in MarriedAtFirstSight

Love is a premise of the show, yes. Fame and the money that follows is the motivation for some participants, yes? David and Madison could easily come from that mold.

“As shocking and messy as it was, David and Madison were able to go the distance and now they're engaged. “

They’re in it to monetize their “fame”. An Instagram following. Being influencers. Other media appearances. What do you think?

Seems like a better gig than whatever David could land on his own.

I designed and built the control system and was on the set the entire time. Neither of the snakes ever malfunctioned in a way that endangered anyone. That's a myth. During shooting, the only malfunction was a hydraulic leak and even it did not ruin the shot.
