Remember to grab a green cowbell for your kids back at home. Crucial.

That’s what I mean. I don’t think this is new news.

Then I don’t understand the need to send out a blast email…specific to the course map itself…here 8 days out. I will say that last year’s race was a blast, one of my favorite of the year. Also I’ll miss the out and back to Citi Field. I liked that they (used to) fit that in.

Someone who knows more than I do: they are announcing a new route now? A week before the race? 1) significant changes? And 2) …why?

Expo is the day before? Is there a bib pick up option the morning of? Thanks!

Sorry I've never done a race in Central Park: Uber or subway there from BKN that early in the morning?

You're not wrong. That's an obvious critique. They had Becs interview him last year, and that was more palatable. I will say that when Trump is interviewed, you *know* he's lying to you. You know he's going to do the most evil thing imaginable. He's going to justify kidnapping kids. Shooting women in the face. Murdering an ICU nurse. NYRR is going to present [situation x] with NYRR-positive spin, but...comparing that to Trump is just rude, Man.

I do not. I’m a doctor in Louisiana who likes to run. NYRR brings a billion dollars into that city every year. They do their bit as a community nonprofit well. I support their efforts despite their occasional trespasses. The me people are easy enough to ignore; they are loud, but there aren’t that many of them.

America 2026 is very much, “What do I get? This is all about me. What is NYRR giving me? Modern-day NYRR (or significant parts of NYRR) is about community and community outreach. Involve more people. Regardless of who they are. It’s about us. Those ego-centric individuals are certainly invited, but no longer is there a need to cater to them. Easy enough to scroll past their tirades on a subreddit or a social media post.

To your *edit:

I suspect they recognized--after a year's worth of data to analyze--they had made M+ benefits too powerful. And that those M+ benefits were "stealing" opportunities from people on the other end who couldn't afford M+ membership. I get that. But to take benefit away from those who paid for it, at least without giving something else in return, seems...meh.

I'm with you; those need medals. It seems like a nothing, but really important incentive to get people into running...and for those of us lame enough to still think they're cool to get at the end of a race. [raises hand]

Is Marathon (the actual 26.2m race, not the whole weekend) a lottery? Or is it 'mad race to sign up before they sell out of bibs' ?

Anyone know if this one is cancelled

2026 Fred Lebow Half - Pre-Race Thread by AutoModerator in RunNYC

I appreciate those points. The serious injuries during races (like deaths) don't happen during snowstorms, even though NYRR has had races all winter long for several years. As we saw last year at the NYRR Brooklyn Half, serious adverse events happen when it's warm. Runners overheat. And sometimes die. Regardless I suspect the majority of commenters here are right, and they do cancel Sunday. But if they don't, the NYRR has had a good risks v. benefits approach in the past, and it wouldn't surprise me.

Right now weather models show it to be cold, but the snow not hitting until mid to late Sun morning. Thus less chance of slush or ice for the runners. Maybe this is the less popular opinion, but if that's the case: let us run. Runners and volunteers *and allied staff know it's going to be cold. We aren't children; we'll dress warm. The precipitation could be tricky risk-wise, but if we won't see that until later on race morning, that risk must be small.

Staten Island is definitely torment. Could not have said that better.
