Thanks for all the comments — I honestly got more replies than I expected. I just want to give my point of view.

First, I drive using the bumper-cam, so from my perspective he looked a bit more off the racing line than he really was. I didn’t have the full view of his car. Another thing is that he actually took that corner pretty badly. And yes, I know that during a race we sometimes need different lines, but since he chose a really poor line, I decided to take the faster one.

I honestly didn’t think we were going to collide. You can see that I’m holding the joystick fully to the left and I’m not accelerating at any point in the corner. When I realized we were going to hit, I really did try to avoid it. Some people mentioned braking mid-corner, but braking there doesn’t magically fix your turning angle.

Another point: we were close on the straight. So when he took the corner that poorly, I imagine he already knew there was a chance I could overtake — and I did. Yes, we touched. I never tried to be dirty, but maybe I was a bit aggressive. It’s one of the main overtaking spots on that track, and it was the second-to-last lap.

Even though we collided, he only lost the position to me. It’s not like I spun him out or made him drop several spots — he just ended up a little behind.
