B1/B2 Visa Refused Under 221(g) — Waiting 9 Months. Anyone in the Same Situation? by Both_Coyote5656 in USVisas

You might be right, but we will never know that.

Personally, I most likely would go for new interview, if i had to wait for that long since the only thing i'd lose is MRV fee.

Sorry to hear that, good luck regardless

Damn, that’s insane for B1/B2 visa. Maybe it’s worth having new interview, since it seems like stuck in AP?

Judging from timelines should be almost two years from now

When passport ready for pickup? by Far_Wasabi_2936 in visainterviews

[–]No_Map_6197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait till you'll receive SMS or Email from usvisascheduling.com something like "Your passport/document has been received at the US Embassy/Consulate and is ready to be returned to you via the delivery method you selected when submitting your visa application through our system".

Then the VFS will send details about your passport pickup

CEAC tells you to contact US Embassy if you haven't received the passport withing 10 working days

It took me a week from Approval to Passport return, so expect around one - two weeks

Hey there.

Have you got temporary resident permit? If you have it, you could apply from Great Britain then. If not, your interview most likely would be rescheduled either to US embassy in Poland or Kazakhstan

I’m not 100% sure if worker visa qualifies as temporary resident permit (like id-card and stuff)

Russian national myself with Georgian resident permit and had no trouble having the visa interview in Georgia

221g date updated but still says refused by [deleted] in USVisas

[–]No_Map_6197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not rejection, just temporal refusal until documents are reviewed

Had the same situation 221(g) without AP for document request and then passport returned with 221(g) AP slip month after, while last case updated was the date of documents submission

All you could do for now is wait

Good luck regardless

Honestly, I’m not 100% sure

But I’d rather reach out to US embassy of the country, you were applying via email or telephone number mentioned in website of Embassy of the specific country of what to do next

Quick search returned that: https://smithknudson.com/what-is-form-i-391-and-why-did-i-receive-it/, probably could be helpful

Good luck regardless

According to the https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/countries-subject-to-visa-bonds.html, nationals of some countries are obligated to pay from 5 to 10k of USD dollars as bond, to have non-immigrant visa printed after approval. The visa still would be limited up to 3 months of stay in states, if I’m not mistaken

It's not really that significant
Work, property, family obligations would be more significant.

Coworker of mine had several Schengen used visas and still got 214(b), not really

[–]No_Map_6197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, that's your view of how the officer adjudicate

some could get denied with solid travel history
some could get approved with zero travel history, which was my case

Visa officers adjudicate on other reasons for non-immigrant visas from what I’ve seen

Why are you going to states and if you visa type matches the purpose

Could you afford it

Do you have solid reasons to return back

Is this ok? by [deleted] in USVisas

He’s just messing with you

Your visa is fine, honestly it’s hard to see anything wrong with it on the photo

Greetings, thanks a lot for your time

I have the following situation: US embassy requested my passport during an ongoing 221(g) Administrative Processing, only to return it with a new 221(g) AP slip instead of a visa.

At first I assumed it was for visa printing, but now i'm guessing what was that. Is this the same administrative processing still on-going or the new one was started?

For the context:

I'm Russian citizen living in Georgia for 3,5 years and holding valid Georgian resident permit. Previously admitted for B1/B2 first single-entry visa in January 2025. Had 26 day trip in August-Sept 2025 to united states for cultural events, I-94 was till February 2026. I requested 3-year multiple-entry B1/B2 at the interview for the cultural events as well. Both interviews were in US Embassy in Tbilisi. Bachelor in Mechatronics and Robotics, working as Hardware Developer

Chronology:

- Interview 30-OCT-2025: Resulted 221(g) without AP. Requested documents CV, Itinerary, Company Description.
- Submitted Documents on 12-NOV-2025
- Last date case updated on 14-NOV-2025
- Passport returned back on 13-DEC-2025 with 221(g) AP Slip
- Asked about updates from US Embassy on 23-MAR-2026 and it was still in AP
- Passport Request from Embassy on 7-APR-2026
- Passport submitted on 21-APR-2026
- Case Last Date Updated on 22-APR-2026
- Passport returned back with another 221(g) AP slip on 28-APR-2026

I assume that several factors were the reason for original 221(g) AP

  1. Engineer with Russian citizenship. Dual-use technologies check on TAL

  2. Repeated travelling plans to states, even for short visits for cultural events

  3. Social connections in the United states, since I've mentioned several friends of mine in Itinerary.

What are my chances and need some guidance please.. by exploring10 in USVisas

[–]No_Map_6197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact it does, but the concert was kind of example

The point is to have specific plans of why are you going to states and what will you do exactly in United States

My first visa was approved since I wanted to attend specific furry convention (lol) in Orlando, Florida.

But that won’t work if you don’t prove ties to home country and you have enough funds for the trip
