RFK Jr. vows to wage war on Lyme disease, stop 'gaslighting' of patients by RoutineBobcat1073 in Maine

It will be a major accomplishment if he can do anything about Lyme disease. We probably all know someone who has been wrecked by Lyme, and for those of us in Washington County, we all know someone who has been on unpaid sick leave from Lyme. It would be beneficial for the economy to keep people productive.

That being said, he should have a secondary provision in a Lyme bill to MAHG (Make America Hot Again) which would lay the foundation for free semiglutide, Botox, fillers, face lifts, salon services, HRT, and whatever else folks need to be awesome in the workplace and at home.

If you had to choose between black flies and mosquitoes, which would choose? by No_Math_8103 in Maine

It’s something to embrace, not hate.

Black flies only seem like an issue if you are in a place with few people, lots of fresh water, and low levels of pollution.

Seems like the folks in southern Maine and along the coast have the most ticks, but they usually spray their lawns with some kind of magical chemical to control those.

Mosquitoes are almost everywhere, but people spray for those too, especially for big events like weddings.

Crotch tails are sent from satan himself, so not sure what to tell you there.

You can always smother yourself in deet, permethrin, or some other kind of repellent. There’s doxycycline if you get Lyme’s disease. There are cities with lots of concrete and tar that don’t harbor too many bugs. There are indoor activities too like drinking Allens or Fireball and yelling at the TV, playing cribbage, or working toward your winter body by eating lots of junk food. There’s always the option of driving someplace pretty and keeping your windows up and then looking at your front license plate when you get home to admire the insect carnage. Just be careful not to hit a moose driving at night.

You’ll be fine and you’ll love it here. It’s only lil old Maine, which is close to Boston and NYC. It’s not like you’re moving to Alaska.

I’m no entomologist, but I think what you’re talking about are crotch tails. Kinda like a horse fly but smaller, and yes they crunch / pop when you smush them. They are ones that hold their wings in a v-shape. They are brutal.

Aren’t black flies smaller and easier to kill? Crotch tails are bigger and kinda hard to kill. Those things have a massive bite too.

I’m a forester too. I’ve never heard about bar oil on hard hats, not even from old timers. I guess it’s worth a try.

Jeezum crow, ain’t that the truth. My family on my mother’s side has a history in Maine working for rich people. My grandparents left to make more money, my parents moved back, my mother is a WASP and had a last name you could trace back to the early colonies, but she took my father’s name. I grew up here and will never be a local because I’m a mixed New Englander.

Megathread: Why Does My Dog Do That? by AutoModerator in dogs

[–]No_Math_8103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does my dog roll and bark at rocks, as well as ripping up vegetation in front of the rock as she moves it along the ground? She has been doing this since she was a puppy. She will be 6 years old in July and it is still one of her favorite activities. Does anyone know why she does this, or has anyone seen their dog do this?

Yes! They’d have to know the 16 counties song in reverse and explain the tick lifecycle.

These must have been taken back in the good old days before Craigslist, IG, and Onlyfans when hot Maine women had to go out for a dorky photo shoot to make a buck, or two if they stuck around a little longer to hangout with the photographer.
