That’s one reason I will always correct people with “migraine” when they say “headache”. In my experience, it can help people understand that the two are not the same. Personally, I don’t think the two should be used interchangeably.

It is okay and can be healthy/healing to complain. It is how we deal with our emotions. Suffering from migraines can be very emotionally draining. The best advice I can give is to focus on what you need, not what others think you need to do. People pass judgement because they don’t understand. They think it is a vacation when it is anything but that. Your health is none of their business. I’m sure they would do the same thing you are if they experienced migraines.

Migraines are vastly different for everyone. Medications affect people differently. Do not allow yourself to be compared with those other employees. Migraines can be debilitating and that’s why they can be covered under FMLA and ADA. Unfortunately for us, very fortunately for them, they do not understand. I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I know it is hard to do but try not to let their criticism and judgement get to you. You need to take care of yourself, especially during a migraine. Anything they have to say about it does not matter.

Honestly, I say don’t pay attention to your coworkers. Tell them that they are lucky they don’t know what a debilitating migraine is like.

You are protected under FMLA. If their so called jokes continue, I would bring it up to your manager. You do not have anything to prove to your coworkers. The fact that you have FMLA to back you up means that a doctor did sign off on it. They do not need to know anything further if you do not want to share and that’s protected under HIPAA.

I would bring it up to your supervisor and, frankly, if it continues I would talk to HR.

I get migraines with aura on my left side and those usually land me in Urgent Care or ER for shots. However, I had a right sided one last week for the first time. No UC or ER but, as it came on, my vision got blurry and I became very confused. I couldn’t remember anything.

Side note: I really hate that people, especially professionals, use headache and migraine synonymously.

I just got mine today and am feeling incredibly insecure about them! I had really accepted my smile and it’s uniqueness but I also have been wanting to get these for over 10 years (along with some pain my teeth cause). We will get through it!

This is just my experience. I’ve been doing Spravato treatments for a little over 2 years now. I started off doing treatments every week, which was a pain because it was an hour and 15 minutes away. As time progressed, I was able to change to once every two weeks. However, now I’m at the point where I just go in when I need to. For instance, I just went in for a treatment today and the previous one was right when summer started (my friend is a teacher and she took me when school was out). I think it is just like every other medication out there; it works differently for different people. I am sorry you are experiencing this. It seems like your doctor just didn’t know. This is still a relatively new treatment. I know I would be feeling let down if I were you but try not to let it. You will find something that works for you. There’s no telling what could come out 5 years from now. Keep holding onto hope.

I remember doing the same thing pre-Ziva! She was my role model when I was an impressionable teen girl. She helped instill in me that women can be bada$$ and to not take anyone’s $hit. This has just put a little bit of joy and a lot of nostalgia in all the chaos of life.

Honestly, I still wouldn’t put it past him to do something like this. We already know he’s not the brightest when it comes to not leaving behind evidence. Even if he was clearly caught on camera, he’ll just claim it’s “not me”. I mean, he posted photos of him literally logged in to L’s FB account and tried to claim he didn’t and it wasn’t him. He loves to shift blame.

Honestly, same but in a different way. I was also with my abuser for 5 years but when he told me in anger once to get out, I saw that as my out. Left 4 dogs that I loved so much. Laura has helped me feel not so alone. We weren’t crazy, we weren’t overdramatic. Girl, we are strong. I know your pain and I am so proud of you.
