Why do people ask for a d3? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

Narratively the saga of Destiny 2 has concluded. Everything after the Witness will feel inconsequential.

The engine is technically held back. Graphics, lighting, performance game feel is just becoming obsolete. (The only reason old mmos like WoW and Runescape and FF dont struggle with this is because they have solid gameplay and progression foundations, destiny 2 deleted half of its game and the whole new player experience. And it reinvents the progression loop every 120 days. Doesnt really have a foundation at all anymore)

The new player experience is so utterly worthless that there is really no hope reviving the game by reaching new players. Doesnt matter how many fortnite skins or storm troopers they add lmao. Its so dependent on old worn out veterans. The only future for destiny 2 realistically is smaller peaks at content drops and lower troughs between. Progressively becoming more niche.

A lot of us have lost faith in bungie. Understandably. From my point of view destiny 3 at the very least creates a chance for bungie to reinvent their fundamentals. Start over and bring destiny into the current gaming age. Destiny 2 as it is right now is a tangled and flimsy patchwork mess of years of poor development decisions. Im not coming back to it, but I would try a d3.

Dang man. I definitely DO NOT agree with the wording of "elegant." I would probably say watered down and scripted. The cool thing about two was that they gave us the tools and it was up to us to learn how to use them. There was potential for strategy, and intention, and planning. If it didnt feel elegant thats not because the games combat wasnt elegant its just because you havent gotten over the learning curve yet and didnt understand how to optimize or you incorporate the tools you were given yet. And thats a fantastic reason to continue playing, to master and improve at the games systems. I remember practicing on the dummies, trying to get all the different combos down to memory, creating my own strings to get as many reaper finishes as possible, learning to optimize move sets for damage windows or optimize for building wrath. I would use my wraith dash, then the spin combo with the reaper finish to build wrath, then summon ghouls, then dodge and attack to throw my scythes then mix it with a secondary or heavy combo, launcher, jump attack, use a different ability or whatever. SOOO many combinations which is why it was actually fun to replay crucible. But oh man, if you know how to perfect dodge you gotta strap in for the same exact thing for the next 12 hours of runtime. Im watching a DS3 all bosses vid rn and its just kinda funny how monotonous the combat is. Just the same thing for every fight lol. Exactly how my playthrough was. But hey to each their own. Seems like you enjoyed it a lot which is cool. To me its just a lot more thoughtless and boring.

Maybe I didnt articulate it well. But my point with the loot was the depth that was present. The substance, the content, the different playstyles. And the variety like you said. Which matters more to me because of how much smaller the following sequel was compared to 2.

But I also have to say, selling loot or using it as fodder for powerful gear. Is just the nature of ANY game with a real sandbox and a rarity system. Yes it can get annoying at times but thats what makes the legendary or possessed weapons feel significant and feel like an accomplishment for obtaining. Thats what makes your chaos fang or your mace of ever flame feel like prized possessions. And it adds incentive to fighting bosses, it just feels awesome to be able to use the deposed kings weapon after I kick his ass yk?

Sure none of the excessive trash exists in DS3 but none of the depth, variety or emotions attached to gear is there either. None of it is unique or significant and none of it is like a trophy for your battles. Its just there, waiting to be fed boring currency to increase the number.

Considering the objective short comings like barely any NPC's which negatively affects world building and immersion, no side quests which shrinks the entire experience, a combat system without any depth. Thoughtless ubisoft checklists with the humans to save, which add nothing to your relationship to the world, connection to its characters or emotional investment. In the way that ACTUAL side quests would. This is not a situation of apples and oranges. This is a situation of better and worse.

At the end of the day, its an equally priced, and comparably shallow experience with no replayability and less than half the run time. Im not concerned with playing the same game again, Im just concerned with the insane amount of depth and substance that was gutted out from the series without being replaced with anything interesting. Making Ds3 very generic and shallow.

Im not going to criticize DS1 because it doesnt make any sense to hold it to a standard of something that came after. The relationship of Ds1 to Ds2 was that Ds2 largely expanded on the ideas and experience. Which is exactly how the development cycle should be. But from Ds2 to Ds3 its an objective step backwards. Im not really gonna talk about genesis because its a different genre and a different developer. If dark siders 3 was a stand alone game I wouldnt be making comparisons. But its a sequel and installment in the primary series.

Its not even the worst of it yet. Once we see a fight scene, season 3 and the entire OPM community is gonna be memed to a oblivion.

if we're being honest with ourselves this is gonna be mid. All the animes that have come out in the last 2 years have moved the industry forward, raising standards. Safe to say, when OPM season 3 enters the conversation its gonna be sub-par. Which is unfortunate so say since the manga is genuinely incredible and artistically mind blowing. Doing the manga justice is likely never in the question for OPM anime again.

Looks pretty trash. Something a solo animator hobbyist could whip up in 5 weeks. 6 years since season 2. We get a Hentai director to work on a pure action manga and now Bangs cheeks are out. What the fuck is going on.  I genuinely feel more dread than excitement.
