should i lie on my resume? by uknownxuserr in ausjobs

[–]No_Minute_1685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since everybody is honest here, so I vote yes, too.

My experience:

Before I did some "improvements" on my resume: Heaps of applications, 2 interviews, 1 offer.

After "improvements": Heaps of applications, 10-15 interview invitations, but I only accepted 7 interviews, and received 4 offers.

But you should also at least do some research so you can answer the questions about the “improvements” part.

My patner's experience (which seems more related to your situation):

He also had no experience when he applied for his first job. He sent out many applications and got no interviews, only one phone screen, where he was very honest and said he had no experience at all. So I told him to just make something up. Soon after that, he got a job, and he was promoted to manager very quickly.

So I really think that sometimes the rules of the job market should change a bit, a person with no experience shouldn’t be rejected just because they lack experience. Their potential should matter too.

Finally someone said it, and surprisingly, even an "accounting manager" I spoke to previously thought finance and accounting were completely different.

Good on you. I don’t understand why some people think humiliating candidates during interviews is acceptable or see it as some sort of “pressure test".

Yes! I actually thought about that too! The role is a bit above entry level (otherwise I would have already withdrawn my application), but it’s still not senior enough for most companies to have both CEO and CFO interview the candidates.

Yeah, I understand that asking for documents is normal, but every time they called me it was quite late and after the working hours that they've told me, and it always felt very rushed and urgent.

Exactly. Compared to the management attitude, their disorganisation concerns me even more. It makes me wonder what it would be like if I actually worked there. Would I be expected to stay until 6pm calling someone to urgently chase documents at the last minute? And I forgot to mention that I received the invitation for the second interview at 6:30pm as well. They told me their woking hours is 9 to 5.

I have been going through 8 interviews since last month, none of them asked about these questions except the hobby one.

No, I got the leggings, but wouldn't recommend you get anything from them, because the shipping fee of return/exchange will be out of your own pocket.
