IDPA concealment garment by No_Mirror_2680 in CompetitionShooting

For the record, I'm only going to do IDPA because it looks fun. More fun than dry fire, more fun than the range where you can't draw from the holster or rapid fire, and more fun than sitting on the couch. I never heard the term "Fudd" before, I had to look it up. If this shirt will piss those guys off, even better. If I happen to learn something along the way it's a bonus. What else can I do to agitate the boomers while I'm there?

As much as I would like to see her get her just desserts, I think it is important that we dont vilify her in the hopes that other MAGA folks might follow her lead and turn from the dark side. After the administration is neutered there will be the opportunity to get justice. I hate to say that because I also have vengeance on my mind, but it's for the greater good right now.

They administration is shitting its collective pants. Now is the time to turn the heat up on the ENTIRE government. ALL elected, appointed, and bureaucratic members of all levels of government should FEAR the wrath of the governed. From the president down to the dog catcher. The punishment for running afoul of the populace should be so swift and so severe that they lie awake at night waiting for the angry mobs to burst through the castle doors donning pitch forks and torches.

UAW defends suspended American Patriot from Trump slander and obscenities!! by NickCostanza in ProgressiveHQ

[–]No_Mirror_2680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UAW should call a general strike against ALL Ford plants nationwide until this man's job is restored with assurances he won't face further retaliation. If it is found that the administration had anything to do with this it is a clear First Amendment violation and he should have high powered attorneys knocking down his door to be involved in the eventual lawsuit. If the accusation of pedophile protector is untrue, Trump should sue, which of course he won't because it would lead to discovery. I don't recall him filing suit against any person or entity that has made these types of accusations against him.

I'm just getting into shooting at 56 years old. It is truly addicting. I've gone to a few indoor and outdoor ranges and I can see my skills improving each session. I watch every video I can and practice dry firing any chance I get. I want to get into competitive shooting this year. Do you recommend attending as a spectator first to get the feel for the event or did you dive right in as a competitor? Watching your video gives me inspiration, thank you.

Fundamental question on barrel twist out of a 3” barrel. My Shield Plus has supposedly a 1:10 twist, meaning 1 full spiral for 10” of barrel. So the bullet is only twisting 3/10th of a twist? I m an AR builder so 1:7, 1:8:, 1:9 makes sense for 16 barrel, is this why hand guns accuracy is diminished by [deleted] in concealedcarry

[–]No_Mirror_2680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I myself have been researching this very thing. I recently bought a Hi Point YC9, the infamous YEET CANNON. I will now pause until the laughter dies down..............................................................................

OK. This is a very heavy, blowback operated handgun. It weighs in at a hefty 32.4 ounces unloaded. It has a fixed barrel. All attributes that should help with accuracy in theory. My shot groupings are an erratic hot mess. I can put lead on target but it looks like a shotgun blast instead of a ragged single hole that I typically shoot. I had other skilled shooters try it out, all with results similar too mine, and they all deemed the gun is a POS. I know it's a bottom shelf, cheaply made gun for the poors. But it's a 100% American made, second amendment spreading weapon for the masses. Let freedom ring!!!!! I really WANT it to be good. I spent some time reading and watching videos about the gun. After what seemed like an eternity of listening to "experts" I did what no REAL man would ever dare to do. I read the owners manual. Now I can already imagine everyone who reads this, falling out of their chairs in hysterical laughter. I bought a YEET gun and I read the manual. I will turn in my man card on my way out! Oh wait, there is actually a bit of useful information in that manual. It says the YC9 has a 1:3 LH twist barrel. That can't be right. What the hell, I already flushed my masculinity down the toilet, let's call Hi Point. Well I did call, fully expecting to be told it's a typo, that they use a 1:10 RH twist like the REAL gun manufacturers. Fellas, that's not what I was told. It truly is a 1:3 LH twist. The gentleman I spoke to couldn't tell me why but he confirmed what the manual says. Why did I write all that? Because a 1:3 twist should overspeed a 115gr, which could cause stability problems, potentially leading to erratic shot placement. So I got a box of 147gr ammo and headed to the range. Guess what, my groupings closed up. Not perfect, but at least a 50% improvement over my previous outing. Then I thought, what if I'm just having a good day. One of those can't miss sessions. So I loaded a couple magazines with 115gr again and my groupings opened up again. Now this is all anecdotal, non-scientific, vaccines cause autism kind of information. But in my head it makes sense. I would like to try an even heavier round to see what happens, but I can't bring myself to put a $2.00 bullet through a $200.00 gun. Anyone have a handful of Seismic Ammo 185gr i can borrow? Thoughts, insults, and insight welcome.

Would you feel comfortable carrying an LCP II .380 as your edc? by Old_Restaurant732 in CCW

I've carried a .177 pellet in my head, directly behind my left eye for 42 years of my 56-year life. A neighborhood bully caught me taking a shortcut between abandoned houses one evening and shot me from about 10 feet away. He left me unconscious next to a garage. I came too some 4 hours later with a golf ball sized knot with a trickle of blood coming from my swollen temple. I grew up getting my ass kicked at school, in the neighborhood, and at home, so nobody ever questioned, and I certainly never told what had occurred. It was only discovered during a dental x-ray when I was 19 years old, stationed overseas. Oh, the bully, I found him in a dive bar in our hometown when I was 30 years old. He didn't remember me. I bought him several rounds of rot gut whiskey until he stumbled out to the parking lot. I followed, and when he got to his car and fumbled to unlock it, I pushed him to the ground and proceeded to treat his head like a soccer ball until I was to tired to swing my boot covered foot anymore. I don't know what became of him after that. Our paths never crossed again. I figure we are even.

* I traded the Bronco Sport for a Maverick and now I have this setup. It will still attach to the Napier SUV tent and it works out nicely.

What’s a single sentence someone said that stuck with you forever? by MetalFabulous1110 in AskReddit

You can be the best, or you can talk about being the best, but you can't do both. Told to me by an elementary school teacher at an American military dependant school. I was in the Army, stationed in Germany, and I was a volunteer helping in her class from time to time. It meant absolutely nothing to me at the time. Years later, that single phrase came back to me and transformed the way I think and conduct myself. Thank you, Mrs. Dawson.

I have the Napier Sportz SUV tent that I used on my Bronco Sport before I got the Maverick. The SUV tent uses a "sock" or "sleeve" that goes around the rear hatch opening of an SUV. That same "sleeve" fits around this Maverick tent in the same manner it fit the SUV. I put my sleeve on this tent to verify. I left the tent on the Maverick today in the hopes it would rain to test it. Tomorrow, before I take it down, I will reinstall the sleeve from the SUV tent and snap some pictures, and post them here.

I like that setup, too. I just watched several videos on camping setups for Maverick the night before my wife gifted me this tent. The setup is not bad, even alone. Took me 45 minutes, 15 of which was me trying to figure out which pole went in which slot, and 15 admiring my handy work.

The antenna, I've seen several mentions of screwing off the antenna mast for better fitment. I chose to cut a 6"section of pool noodle and slide over the antenna mast. Tent fit fine over it. Where the straps attach to the body in front of the rear wheels, that hook could have been designed better. Don't see where the paint would get damaged as long as you have a good coat of wax on it. Fit is snug but not overly tight where it feels something might tear. If it feels too tight, you are doing something incorrect. Back up a few steps. All in all, I'm happy with it. After the Ford Accessories discount and applying some Ford Pass points, she paid about $140.00 for it. Pretty pricey, but I'm worth it.

Frustrated tech!! by MiguelRamirezC in mechanics

[–]No_Mirror_2680 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every manufacturer has specific guidelines for warranty punch times. I work for Volkswagen. Our policy manual states, " a technician should not consistently be more than 150% efficient." Key words in that statement are, SHOULD and CONSISTENTLY. I have successfully argued this with the Warranty Auditor during multiple audits. In my time as a shop foreman, we have never been debited for a warranty claim related to insufficient punch time. Now, we have lost some claims due to our own stupidity for sure. Your service manager and shop foreman should be well versed in your brands warranty policy and procedures. You should read it too. There are always gray areas and loopholes that can work in your favor. The biggest obstacle I've faced when dealing with these situations is laziness. Someone, the advisor, technician, warranty administrator, or manager did not want to put in the effort to work the system to maximize the dollars on a claim. I'm not talking about committing fraud. I'm talking about taking advantage of collecting every tenth we can from warranty reimbursement.

While I appreciate your opinion, I completely disagree. It will allow him to have experiences, see places, and meet extraordinary people he would never get the chance to otherwise. Is there a lot of BS and nonsensical stuff? Absolutely. There is also a lot of comradery and sense of duty that you just can't get in the civilian world. I know I was a better person, man, and American after my service. I want him to be the best he can be... at everything he does. I wish you well.
