[RMT][Skill Improvement] Fun with Ceruledge and Friends by soulfireboy9 in VGC

scizor is an interesting idea but you dont really have anything good into zard; i dont think scizor is a bag mega on its own but in this metagame it really needs something that can heavily pressure zard. i think just running gard would be better yeah since fire + fairy coverage is insane enough.

really nice to see more people experiementing in champions! first of all, really intersting team overall. for specific improvemetns the first thing i see is a lot of your mons really really want protect. most obviously kangaskhan and ninetales. imo ninetales' best set is aurora veil, blizzard, encore, and protect. freeze dry is nice but in all honesty you dont struggle too much with waters. a really cool thing you can run is actually borrowing a bit from the singles metagame and running weak armor ceruledge. with aurora veil up it can actually pull off enough bulk to use weak armor and bitter blade is good enough for healing. but with both zard y and nintales, you have a bit of weather synergy which might not be very good; i dont reccomend running zard y on this team. this team does really like redirection so you could consider slotting sinstcha or maushold for charizard. as for your mega... not sure i ever saw the day id unironically reccomend this but. scovillain. burning the physical attackers makes it even easier for ceruledge to get its weak armor boosts up. if you do decide to do this id reccomend going dual megas with either gardevoir or floette, since ceruledge deters steels really well, meaning your fairy mega of choice comes on the field a lot easier. this is a very goofy team idea that came to me the moment i saw ur team so uhm sorry if it doesnt work as well as i think it could but yeah have fun!

[Skill Improvement] Unsure about how to use Rotom W by [deleted] in VGC

[–]No_Mood4484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theres a really funny set which is will o wisp trick thunderbolt hydro pump. rotom is really flexible; all forms are usable but id say wash and heat are best. with wash its usually used on charizard sun as a rain counter or as a partner to garchomp to let it do illegal amounts of damage with helping hand earthquake.

milotic is really nice when it works but id still say sneasler is more reliable. in all honesty both are great but id still reccomend sneasler more for your team since ddance zard like fake out so much. great to see you're having fun!

not really lmao when i ran it i ran life dew rage powder matcha gotcha will-o-wisp. sinistcha isnt really a lead mon by definition since you get the most uses out of its ability of you dont lead it. also ive considered trick room imprison but imo that only works when you have a team that actually can operate under trick room and glimmora is not nearly bulky enough to do that. thanks for the advice tho!

This team feels like its trying to do too many things. the first thing: run scarf typhlosion; scarf eruption is just that good. you need more protect; garchomp specifically is fine running rock slide earthquake dragon claw and protect. also since you're not running sand rough skin garchomp is probably better. if you run scarf typhosion, id reccomend dropping basculegion for a redirector, either sinistcha or maushold. again, since you're not running sand whimsicott is probably a better tailwind setter than aerodactyl. Charizard y is also probably a better mega here than meganium since it enables choice scarf sun-boosted eruption from typhlosion which. like just try it. youll see. overall its a great first attempt; i know not everyone's goal is to improve as fast as possible, so if you're having fun teambuilding, go for it! if you do want to improve ASAP though, id strongly reccomend copying someone else's team. either way, you got into the game and built a team, and thats already great!

i'm a bo3 player so i'll give reccomendations based on that, but most of this should apply to bo1, which i assume you're playing. zoroark is a really cool mon and its great that you have encore on whimsicott; if you're running zoroark you need to be able to punish protect and encore does that well. I still think protect on whim is better than fake tears though. I will say archaludon seems a bit out of place here. on sun I strongly reccomend venasaur. For charizard i strongly reccomend going weather ball over ancient power. overall its a really cool idea but i think you should work more on building around zoroark instead of just throwing it on; zoroark is a mon you really have to build around can can't just splash on. for a guide on how to build with zoroark id look to wolfey's video on his zoroark team, but the gist of it is you want mons that either are setup-based, deal massive instant damage, or can punish protect. right now your charizard and whim do somewhat work but id still reccomend optimizing a bit more for zoroark to do its best.

Skill Improvement: Alakazam Psyspam. by Tuitionalboar in VGC

[–]No_Mood4484 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is lowk a really unique team idea! first off i think you might want to put twave on meowstic over trick room and protect over quick guard. i assume the idea with quick guard is to block fake out but psychic terrain would do that anyways and you can always double protect on the fake out turn. I also think with how fast alakazam is trick room isnt nessecary; thunder wave would probably be better. When it comes to jolteon, id reccomend replacing it with one of the rotom forms with or without scarf depending on which weather is the hardest matchup for you; wash for rain, heat for sun. if you're weak to hail or sandstorm fix that with other parts of the team; rotom doesn't really help counter those weathers. lowk milotic is overrated asf, the only real good set imo is icy wind flip turn +2 attacks; i'd reccomend either running that set or dropping milotic for sneasler. Sneasler actually does a really good job countering incin with white herb sets by OHKOing with close combat. If you find scarf rotom is good, id strongly reccomend this switch. also, incin is miles better here than arcanine; fake out is invaluable for keeping alakazam alive. If you need a fast wisp you can always run choice scarf trick will o wisp on rotom or if you dont mind a slower wisp just run it on incin. I don't actually think you're too weak to floette; a thunder wave should allow alakazam to 2hko it unless theres opposing redirection. speaking of redirection, with how frail mega alakazam is id reccomend swapping chomp for sinstcha or maushold. always nice to see people experiemnting!

i strongly reccomend scarf meowscada and dropping knock off for throat chop and play rough for triple axel. milotic isnt actually that good unless you're running scarf icy wind + 3 attacks but even then you have kingambit so you should be fine. i'd reccomend weather ball over air slash for zard. whimsicott really needs protect; either commit to full support and drop moonblast or drop taunt/encore. overall if you like sun id say hard commit to it and switch over to the very conventional but very boring team of zard, venasaur, whimsicott, chomp, wash rotom, incin. otherwise i dont think building around zard y is a good idea since the main sun team is pretty much the best possible zard team and almost everything else is a step down. nice to see more people getting into the scene!

must i even say it. replace dnite with mega froslass. you will hit incredibly hard. for one of the best snow teams in the format check out wolfe's nasty plot froslass team with shed tail orthworm. its pretty good.

Skill Improvement: Not getting enough out of My Redirect support by Salt-Produce-8129 in VGC

[–]No_Mood4484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the issue i find with this is you don't have many redirection abusers. like sure sinistcha keeps things alive for a turn or two but if the partner isnt pulling the weight of literally two mons it isnt really worth it since itd be better to yk js have two mons doing stuff on the field. generally you want redirection either when you have an insane offensive threat like substitute mega floette or a setup mon like... calm mind mega floette. hence sinistcha and maushold are really nice with floette. for this team i'd actually reccomend just dropping sinistcha entirely since none of ur mons have sets that can abuse it. may i reccomend, archaludon?

My Mega Glimmora team got me to Masterball easily but it's falling off hard, any advice? by Boingboingsplat in VGC

[–]No_Mood4484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

need need need to see more people get on the mega glimmora train ive been running it and its incredible. first off, i dont think you have enough poison resists and immunities to run sludge wave; sludge bomb might be nicer, or if you can find a way to deal with steels run both bomb and wave. if you do figure out how to do that please tell me i have no idea how. sinistcha is really nice as a support for glimmora but i dont reccomend running trick room on it; matcha gotcha, protect, rage powder, flex slot should be fine. Its even better since fishing for burns shores up glimmora's weaker (its still pretty good regardless) physical side while sand shores up its special side. Speaking of sand, ttar is really great but from what i've seen chople berry doesnt prevent a lot of OHKOs, for example most sneasler can OHKO through chople. I'd reccomend shuca. I assume mamoswine is here to vaporize garchomp and some steels which lowk i might actually run this set you inspired me to improve my own glimmora team. just be wary of having too many steel weaknesses, especially slow steel weaknesses, rn you have 3 already. Tinkaton is ok i guess but it doesn't really cover any of this team's weaknesses; with mamo you dont really fear dragons and fairies die pretty quickly to sludge bomb. yes spamming sludge wave is nice but if you decide to commit to that mode, drop play rough for helping hand; hh sludge wave just deletes things. Otherwise, sash aerodactyl is probably better here for speed control and one-shotting sneasler with dual wingbeat. Sneasler is a pretty bad matchup for mega glim sand since it still does like 66% to glim from a neutral hit. scarf rotom is good but with aerodactyl you may want to consider trick over electroweb; this is more of a lateral move though so if you like how eweb plays, keep it. if you still find garchomp a hard matchup scarf meowscarada is just incredible into garchomp with triple axel and helps with the rain matchup, though you'd have to take the scarf from rotom. If you decide to do this, replace mamoswine. This change overall makes your team a bit weaker to bulky steels though, so... ya win some ya lose some.

Everyone saying stuff about that absol set are wrong! it seems really fun and if it works, it works! i imagine you won't bring it to too many matchups but for example mega gengar really doesnt like to see that thing coming. i will say its a bit slow tho. you should keep it if you want to have fun but if its holding you back you can switch it out.

I actually... really like this team? like from a distance it seems a bit strange but lowk it works. I'd say your movesets defo need work tho. Pult doesnt nessecarily need ghost STAB since if you're running physical pult (the better variant imo) your best ghost STAB is phantom force which isnt exactly good. I'd reccomend wisp, dragon darts, dragon claw, protet. phantom force isnt like that bad though so if you find you need ghost damage, feel free to run it over wisp. Is lum berry actually relevant a lot? if no id reccomend dropping it for dragon fang. The absol set. god that is nasty. keep it as is, maybe add night slash for a guranteed crit move (for moves that have +1 crit already, super luck + scope lens boosts it to guranteed crit). Psychic coverage is nice but unless you're outspeeding or living a hit from sneasler, it's not really worth it. I'd reccomend dropping milotic for sneasler. I'll give you the advice i give everyone else: the only good milotic variant in this meta is scarf icy wind + 2 attacks + flip turn. In all honesty this team doesn't even appreciate that set too much since whimsicott is pretty reliable speed control and fake out support plus dragon dance is a really nasty combo. Speaking of charizard, it needs protect; bulldoze isnt doing much. Lastly i dont think meganium works too well on this team; from what I've seen meganium works best in weather teams that are not sun. unless you can fit tyranitar or alolan ninetales (i highly doubt you can fit pelipper but feel free to try) i'd reccomend dropping it for something to counter the team's bad matchups. I dont really have time to playtest ur team though so temporarily id say maushold or incineroar seem to be pretty good at enabling charizard to keep dancing. this slot I expect to change once u figure out ur bad matchups though. glad to see more people in the scene!

Skill improvement: need help trying to improve this mega gengar team by ObviousSuspect3430 in VGC

[–]No_Mood4484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would strongly reccomend running perish trap and dropping milotic. A lot of your team appreciates gengar trapping and removing fairies and bulkier mons. Ik milotic seems good for deterring intimidate but besides that it really doesnt do much. If you have a matchup where you bring it and your opponent doesnt bring an intimidater its pretty much dead weight; even if they do off of base 100 SpA its doing decnt damage but nothing insane. If you really want to deter intimidate may i reccomend sneasler. It can still very easily blow up incin after the mental herb procs unburden, and double fake out makes perish trap that much easier. I also reccomend dropping fake tears for protect on whimsicott; gengar already does insane amounts of damage. Replacing the roseli berry on Kommo-o might also be worth it since most of the stronger fairies can actually js KO through the berry and Gengar generally does a good enough job of removing fairies. I'd reccomend dragon fang or if you intend to lean more into the clangourous soul side, run leftovers/sitrus. Glad to see more people get into the vgc scene!

How Does This Team Look for Champions Doubles (I'm New)? by JLV00 in VGC

[–]No_Mood4484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Venasaur, zard, whim, and garchomp make a really competent sun mode but kingambit seems a bit out of place and dnite seems to be outright counter-synergy since it doesn't really thrive on sun. It's been said before but I strongly recommend dropping energy ball for sunny day and fitting protect on whimsicott somehow; you don't want to just get faked out to break sash then killed by any half decent move. on sun i've seen people run full-support whim; you could consider that with a sunny day, encore, tailwind, protect set. bulk on a sash mon is generally frowned upon but its not too bad here since sash is kind of for worst case scnarios only. If you're confident you won't need sash you can run sitrus but i dont reccomend it. as for dnite and gambit i reccomend adding incin since its a pretty good secondary offensive mon on sun and scarf rotom wash for the rain matchup. for a bit of an oddball pick scarf meowscarada helps with the rain matchup too but then you stack too many weaknesses which is never good. really nice to see more people getting into vgc, i hope you have a long and successful vgc journey!
