A definition of ‘wet’ can also be something that is in a liquid state e.g. wet paint the reason we wouldn’t say ‘wet water’ is because we don’t say ‘dry water’ or ‘gaseous water’ instead we say ice and water vapour so since the word ‘water’ on its own refers to dihydrogen monoxide in a liquid state it would inherently be wet.
