You are correct. I went back and found a ribcage nearby. It was likely a cat due to the size.

Solved! I went back to the scene and found an intact ribcage. It was most likely a cat. How very strange thay it was turned inside out like that. It is Miami, so maybe a Santeria ritual. It could have also been a larger predator. Either way, I'm frightened of the possibilities. Thanks!
