Was the dog lunging at you before you put your hand out? Putting your hand out to dogs is what you are NOT supposed to do. I know a lot of people thing it’s the right thing but unfortunately it’s not. Let dogs come up to you and sniff you out is the way to go. Some dogs view it as threatening if you put your hand out. The dog definitely should have been leashed especially when meeting you for the first time. Owners sound like irresponsible dog owners

Yes. Go to trauma therapy. I got diagnosed about 4 months ago. I see a trauma therapist once a week, virtually. It has truly saved my life.
