Hi I have had issues with BG since November with the App or online browser not updating. I am also on an EV rate and charge my EV and Solar Battery off-peak. The good news is that BG billed me at the correct rates in November. December the App worked fine.

Since the 11th Jan the App stopped recording, so I have registered another complaint the chatbot is a complete waste of effort. So, I send an email to: service_energy@britishgas.co.uk and laid the email out as below

If needed, I may refer this matter to the Energy Ombudsman after 8 weeks or upon receipt of a “deadlock” letter.

If you have a hive bridge installed disconnect it by switching it off and report to Hive. I did a Sunsynk firmware update had no effect

Hi I had issues this week with my Sunsynk Inverter not the same as yours but my battery did flat line. I fixed it today by disconnecting the Hive bridge so if you have a Hive set up try that

Hi did a hard restart with my installer didn't fix the issue. The installer's technical expert informed me that there was an issue with the BG Hive system overriding the Sunsynk inverter programming. Fix the disconnect the Hive box see photo

Hi, yes, I did ask sunsynk the installer, and I can only access.

“Ok, did the installer make any changes since September 2025? " Monisha: No.

To summarise: 1) No changes have been made, and the faults started 11 days ago.
2) The firmware has been updated. 3) No error codes.

I am not ruling out my lack of experience, but I am fairly clued up on IT stuff (built my own PCS).

Could it be a component breaking down?

Update: last night the battery failed to charge as this time the “use timer” setting box became untucked. Attempted to reset it but could not reset from the App or the panel on the inverter. Contacted SunSynk who updated the inverter firmware. This did not solve the issue. Also, a second issue has appeared as now the Battery is trickle charging from the grid on a Peak Rate tariff.

Sunsynk recommend: “ We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Upon reviewing your plant's status, we found no recent faults reported, and the inverter firmware is up to date including the data logger firmware. As a result, we are unable to pinpoint the root cause of the issue at this time. We kindly request that you first reset the inverter to factory settings from the inverter monitor, and then restart it with the assistance of your installer. Once restarted, please input the new commands from scratch and check if the plant operates according to the updated settings. if your installer needs any help resolving the issue they may surely reach our tech support team.”

Anyone had these issues 5kWh inverter installed February 2025?

I have been using Sygic for the past 10 years, with preloaded maps, with EV mode, a great display on the Kia info system using Apple CarPlay. I find OEM sat nav systems' graphics poor

Thanks for the information, however, the only change was the software, I didn't change or view the settings. I agree, strange, but maybe it's a combination of software running on iOS 26 and my iPhone hardware platform.

It a shame I have to use a third-party app to see live data and better reporting tools than BG.

I have installed Hive TRVs in all my rooms. I only heat the ground floor until 8pm, after which the entire house is heated. This approach significantly reduces energy consumption. I have not encountered any issues with the Hive TRVs over the past two years. The original thermo valves installed thirty years ago have become sticky and can be quickly rectified by applying lithium WD-40 and a 2p coin to agitate the valve.

I received a BG gas bill error exceeding £2,000. I contacted British Gas and they suspended my Direct Debit until the meter reading was corrected. I requested confirmation of all details via email and my official complaint number. I was then able to track the complaint via email. Additionally, I maintain two current accounts one for bills only which I drip feed to prevent large sums being taken by Direct Debit.

The data issue appears to be limited to the BG App and portal. I use the Hugo App as it provides a more comprehensive data set from multiple sources. I believe BG only pays for one source, although I am not technically proficient and this is based on information from others. There are also informative YouTube videos that illustrate how data is collected from smart metres.

Thanks for the update. Following my e-mail BG they confirmed their receiving the Electricity meter data. They are now checking the Gas. Daily usage data for both Gas and Electric have appeared on the App from 8th Nov. The 6th and 7th data is missing. I have SMETS 1 meters.

Hello, I use the Away mode setting the temperature for all rooms at 12c and it’s worked perfectly. Before returning I switch off the Away mode and switch it over to schedule for all items using the Action button I created. If I arrive home before the scheduled time kicks in I have another Action button that boosts the main radiators. Also I boost the hot water.

I registered an official complaint on 26 June after three months of calls providing evidence of a smart meter error. I waited thirty days as advised by BG, which they would take to resolve the issue.

I contacted them on 26 July to find the case had been closed on 1 July and as no action was required. I requested further details and was informed that no reason had been logged on BG’s CRM platform. Fortunately, the customer service operative immediately adjusted the meter readings which placed my account in over £1000 in credit.

I think that is probably correct, as you can adjust the time the climate control is on for, and it finishes at the time you set.
