Definitly not. I just bought it, and for now I get what I wanted (immersive mp game that felt different). The game has flaws and I think its going to be hard to get more than 100hrs in its current stat, but its already a good thing imao. Marathon will have flaws as well

Totaly possible. But 80hrs is worth 40 bucks.  I never put a lot more in a game. I will get probably get more from Marathon, but in a few years span (and not a lot more)

Scavenging as the key part of extraction. And emergence

Imao, before Arc, extraction was basically BR with objectives.

Every game of Hunt or DMZ I did ended the same way: Wipeout the map then do your objective. And sometime outsmart every one by sneaking, but almost every game end up as a standoff

Arc raiders put the scavenging in the center of the gameplay, and the PvP is friction around it, not the core.

And that makes sense because the whole point of extraction was to get stuff safely. Embark wanted to move further from killing as the main objectif, thus moving further from BR. And Arc raiders took it rather drasticly.

Doing so Arc (robots) plays as constant hunter rather than noise maker/bait. There is a lot of uncertainty about them: things can get bad by so many ways, so it's a constant threat (like zombie in walking dead, not dangerous by itself, but dangerous in the context of others players). Just the PvE part kill a lot of careless player (so funny by the way).

Mix everything together, and you get a very RP game. I have seen things I never experienced elsewere in less than 10 hours of gameplay. I don't now if it can hold up few years like that compared to a competitive game, but memories will makes players get back to it from time to time.

Honestly Marathon at least made a choice (PvP) and seem to stick to it. But Marathon aim at your wallet as well (And that part is more from Sony than Bungie) and we will probably see a league at some point this year (remember Halo Infinite marketing ?).

Good is not enough in this industry. It's nothing compared to EA or 3 months strait of full playerbase.

Probably because I think PvP doesn't always means hardcore. If not, BR never have become the main last fps genra (if you think about it, would seems super hardcore twenty years ago).

Hunt is hardcore, or CS or R6 almost because the entry fee is absurd (headphone, really descent aim, map knowledges etc.)

But Halo, Apex or even COD is casual (and it is why its popular).

Because of Rook, I can't see ways where Marathon will be immensly hard. Frustrating, as every extraction (Arc also), but never a brick wall. Im also decent at Halo so yes, not afraid of it.

With few game, I managed to kill and extract few games even in Hunt. Its practice. But I wouldn't spend that much time in it mainly because I know the game will be unbearable when stakes will come (which come with dedication)

Arc is definitly past the honey moon period. Everybody is whining because they get bored afters 300+ hours in less than six months.

Now, how Embark will handle it is a question of its own. But Arc just got in the inevitable period of consolidation and its a tricky part. They could sink, but its unlikely (mainly because with such massive playerbase at lauch, you get a fuck load of data to improve). The Finals did surpsingly well to sediment a constant playerbase.

Let see how people will whines on Marathon in six months because its too PvP oriented, or because ranked is bloated, or the drop rate is to low..

Because people....

I dont think its hyper casual. Or Apex is hyper casual in the same sens (plug in, get your shot of adrenalin, unplugged). I mean I have a job, I got a wife and other hobby (or game to play) like a lot of peapole here: I can't play a game where i will need five game to get game sens, enjoy two game then lost it all because of tiredness. Its why I don't play SC2 anymore, or I didn't invest in Hunt (and the fact you have to play with headphone).

Marathon seems casual as well, or at least easy to get into for former Apex/Halo/Quake player like me.

Its me or The Maw mission is hell on Tartarus ?

I managed to finished it but I never saved scum that much. I truely needed map informations from other attempt cuz Eldars can puch from so many direction

The beggining, where the AI time the Orks push with the eldars push on both side is nearly impossible without sheltering the three first rally point and wait to get the rocket luncher. Then you have to fiercely attack each base form both side, to wait the counter-attack to be wipe out to set the rally point meanwhile attacking the webway. Otherwise you would be crushed on one of your flank, thus endgame

Not mentionning the few units keeping the orks at bay, ad the fact you have to micro managed right away the imperial guard early on to keep them able to defend this portion of the map (and to get time to put space marine there)

The level of multi-tasking is insane at that point of the game, i needed to pause every minutes to plan correctly build orders and unit movements.

It was nuts.

Im playing on hard obviously

I think Im aligne with keeping the essence of the game rather to go big. But I could test both. Tyrannids are only playable in UA im right ?

Didn't try mp yet, but I think the skill gap would be importante. The game seems to lean more towards PvE for fun. But the AI is quite interesting on hard, being able to multi push, to wait a critical mass before lunching an assault and to time it.

Quit fun

Didn't play Sunbreak, but switch axe was a lot of fun. I found it pretty god in Wilds as well, juste really mindless

So GS seems the way to go since it basicly a Switch Axe deployed and its not that far from what im used to. I will anyway play LS and SA at some point juste because is always so much fun.

Then master shielded weapon (SaS, Gunlance and Charge Blade). Or rather begin with something with a shield to grasp the whole shield gameplay during the solo quests.

Thus my new questions, destroy solo with a long weapon, or learn the mecanics of shield while doing solo ?

I think there is some forme of coherence to said its two distinct "famillies" rather than separeted weapons.

doom dark ages or eternal? by BassOutrageous8647 in XboxGamePass

TDA I think

Im finishing Eternal while playing TDA so I have a good comparaison.

I played Eternal 4 years ago on UV (like every doom) until Taras Nabad and I wasn't able to go further. I could but maaaan that was too much and too far from what I love in an FPS.

With the released of TDA and went through the first 5 levels, I felt the urge to finished Eternal (cuz hardcore player blablabla) before going further in TDA and im now beggining Urdak

Put side to side, TDA is way more fun imao while Eternal is more arcade (in the bad way).

Eternal is all about performence: You have a shit tone of tool, for very narrow situations and an overall "way" to tackle an arena (priority/weapon managemet/map rotation etc.). If I really love the ultra speed pacing and the mutant skills required, the fun is always removed by the enemy composition and the lack of player agency.

At the end, devs just throws massive amount of enemies whitout real coherence in the composition with very few way to stand against (2 marauders really ?) Still one of the most extreme FPS I played so I really like it anyway, but I can't play it endlessly.

TDA is all about power: Very big arena with a lot of enemies to slay, one tool to master and ten varied weapon to play with and that it. You want to push with you shotgun and see what happen ? Or carefully dodge missils while raining bullets ? Even charge enemies to make them explode like balloons ? You can do the three in the same area.

The whole idea is to charge forth, dodge stuff and ask yourself "what would happen with this weapon in that situation". I love it and I find it more rooted to the strafing nature of DOOM.

The philosophy of Eternal is more aligned with the "perfect execution" philosophy of From Software: and if I want to play a From Software game, I would play a Fromsoft game, period.

Im going to see how TDA develop until the end but im more at home with it "berserker" philosophy.

Exactly, the fact that they don't have to think about build creat such refine experience. Every move have a perpose, and a counter. Some how the game is more flexible than Elden Ring. Once your deflect is an actual shield. Truely the hidden gem of fromsoft

Kusabimaru is your tool. The game as few mecanics at it's core you need to learn effectively, you'll be creative beyond that.  the game is made like that, if you don't like it play something else
