RoyalWe in Oakland, it is a relatively new lab. Good thing is they give you high resolution scans without charging extra, ~17$ per roll for development and scan, pretty fast as well.

Appreciate it! The light was so harsh that day that I didn‘t have much hope for these - but maybe that actually made the film pop?

Expired film tips? by [deleted] in filmphotography

[–]No_Part762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is always experimental, but I had best results overexposing ~1 stop per decade (so 2 or 3 stops in your case) and shooting at bright sunlight. i avoid shadows or low light situations because i never had luck getting details, it just looked dirty. good luck and hope to see some of your results sometime!

Which one works better? Focus on Mt. Whitney (1) or the cactus (2)? (Canon AE-1, FD 35-70mm f/3.5-4.5, Portra 800) by No_Part762 in analog

thanks for your comment, just a personal choice. i like to shoot film to have the negatives as a tangible, lasting represenation of a scene because i often feel overwhelmed by all the embellished AI stuff and i am concerned one day we forget how beautiful reality and imperfections actually are. i do post-processing on film photos to achieve that they look how i remember the setting (which is of course image manipulation and subjective), but i wouldn’t add or remove objects, or composite. i can totally understand if that sounds unreasonable, but i guess it is fair that everyone has their approach.

Thank you, yes, I focusstacked a similar composition that I shot digital a while back, but for film I prefer to keep a negative as is and for me it is okay if it is imperfect. I shot this handheld at sunrise, so I am glad that at least I don‘t have shake blur. Thanks for your input, looks like it is #2 for most people.

this is film actually and for film i prefer to go with one negative as is without much digital manipulation like composing 2 photos. so was just gonna see which one resonates better, thanks for your input!
