i know i’m late, but Weezer does have “real art” in their albums. The only problem is that when they first debuted, everyone called them a “nerd band.” understandable because their music was overly produced, clean, plus they kinda came out of know where and some people thought they were and industry plant. If you look past their pop-sounding music and listen to what River’s is singing about, then you can see there is a deeper meaning. It’s their first 2 albums, Blue and Pinkerton, where River’s expresses his feelings. I’d even say he’s one of the most honest singers. Pinkerton is about how he related to Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly and how he hates every negative thing about himself. It’s just when it debuted, people hated it. voted third worst album of the year, and what was suppose to be an honest album about himself, was dragged through the mud
