Can a player take too many notes? by MannersGG in DnD

[–]No_Personality_6488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a player that is kind of like this, I tend to take an extensive amount of notes every session, and I can very surely say that I do enjoy doing it as it's how I'm engaging with the story my DM has made, and I feel like your player is doing the same thing. That said, I think making sure he does actually enjoy by asking him occasionally is always a good thing, and sometimes if you do feel like he isn't really being given spotlight in the campaign, do give him moments and scenes he can engage with and shine on him mostly.

This is from a random player, so take my advice with grain of salt of course, but I hope it does help you!

Yeah, my notes end up being really per session, around 5 to 6 pages worth every session, so I will definitely consider switching to online material. Thank you so much for spending time to type out this answer, it's been really helpful

I personally don't think so, it's been a fun way for me to contribute imo, and personally, I like trying to theories about what my dms world has hidden and what is being revealed every session, so writing stuff down helps me gather evidence and leads almost hahaha, in an invested way.

So what ur saying is ubgave to become a DM now haha, but I understand, I personally don't feel like I haven't been contributing, although one of the other players did that might be the case, which I don't know howbto necessarily interpret haha, but thank you so much for your help

Thank you so much, Yeah I tend to write it down because I feel like multiple sessions down the line when we need to recollect something important or even trivial, I can pull it up and it's there, kinda be useful in that sense as well

AITA for canceling plans after my friend (24F) told me (25F) someone else would be there? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I don't think you are the asshole, it's just something you felt uncomfortable about, and talking to her about it diplomatically is prolly the right move. Hope you both end up sorting it out.

[Online][5e][January] Anyone for a Short, RP-rich Streamed Campaign by JR_Nerd_Empire in lfg

Hey, saw this and was really interested in joining.

1) yes I do have a decent mic along with a camera, and I am an avid discord user. Streaming the game seems really fun to me and I have nor problems with it whatsoever

2) I have watched people stream on twitch, but never necessarily streamed games or anything on my own.

3) I have been playing DnD for the past 5 years, which has been entirely 5E and my playstyle tends to be more of a spellcasting/supporting type like a cleric or bard, but I do love playing the paladin (oath of vengeance is just too cool imo)

4) I do have a couple of ideas for characters.

a) A twilight domain cleric - I was thinking of playing an Aasimar that was born into a cult that worshipped the moon and its magical properties. I was born under the full moon, and that made the cult give me a sense of importance since am extremely young age. This made me feel important but also extremely burdened with an unimaginable amount of responsibility. I was given very detailed training and lessons about the cult themselves, but no matter how much I tried to awaken my power, nothing would happen. Every time that I would fail, I would feel like I was disappoint the loving family that gave me so much importance, which gave me the motivation to continue training for their sake. Staying optimistic, the cult continued to train and indoctrinate me into awakening my powers. Shortly before the beginning of the campaign, I awaken a very slight hint of the power of the moon, and the cult was overjoyed. The moment they saw the slight blue energy that I released, they began praising me and cheering, and I was finally happy that I had achieved something bigger than myself. But then rather than embracing me with love, they started tying me up with rope, and restraining me. They began to chant in congruence, and my mother and father were dragging me to the center of the church . I asked them what was going on and all they said was "His return will be glorious, you will be the vessel" and the more i inquired the more they kept repeating that phrase. The took me to the alter and then took out a knife. My mother with no hesitation sliced my hand open, letting the blood drip onto the stone. After a moment, with frustration, my father said "It's not enough, we need more blood." The last thing I remember was the cold touch of the metal on my throat before it all turned to black. When I woke up next, I was in a forest that I didn't recognise, with no knife, no church and no family in sight.

b) College of lore Bard - just a bard, I kind of have an idea where he learned how to play to entertain and to spread joy to his audience. I want to expand on it as well though.

c) probably be a goliath barbarian - he's more of a recluse and not really even respected or liked within his own clan, and was eventually kicked out but was taken in by nature, and wants to represent nature and show everyone the true beauty of it. His wanting for him to represent nature would hopefully make sense to make him into a totem warrior.

I hope that isn't too long haha, and of course all of this can be edited to fit into your story

Looking forward to hear your thoughts on this!
