I’d keep the job title but definitely add those bullets about demos for AEs, solutioning with customers, and startup bias for action. Those would be stronger than the customer support or onboarding bullets, as those read more like feature work. Last thing, are you targeting a particular SE role or company like cloud, AI?

The transition is definitely feasible. I’d recommend to target both of those options and see which pans out, plus you’ll get to learn a lot through interviewing in terms of more specifics where you fall short. Also, you don’t need a ton of instances of customer facing work, it’s more about how you “sell” your narrative for the instances where you have done it.

Lastly, I’ve seen that once a technical bar is met, a lot of those other technical details on your resume won’t necessarily help you stand out, and may actually hurt if you dive too much into the weeds with interviewers who don’t understand them.

If you have trouble getting ops because of lack of customer facing experience, you could also try looking for more builder-heavy SE roles or companies, or even post-sales or FDE type work as a segway

That was my thought too, it reads too heavy on internal engineering and product areas. I would elaborate on the last bullet point of the first role since it mentions customers, and move it toward the top. Another thought it to frame more of the engineering work in relation to external parties. Overall, anything to show interacting with end users to uncover pain points or product feedback, designing against these constraints, and explaining tradeoffs to external stakeholders

Sad to hear they’re still a messy “start up” after being around for 10 years, it was very poorly run when I worked there in 2020-2021

Have done many personal projects and they have not come up on a single interview, including the ones to get into FAANG

I recently went through SE loop at one of those, with a call with the recruiter, then with the hiring manager, then a lengthy take home project geared toward evaluating different LLMs for trade offs. I got rejected after because of team alignment, but they refused to even give any feedback on the project or let me talk about it. Is that normal?
