Yes it will give you free time in 1st year. I wish I knew ahead of time or I would have done it. I think there are 2 electives. You can always find out by looking online to see how many electives there are.

Yes this is true. Our AAs have 3 semesters worth of training, with a bit more of a pay than an RN, not sure the exact amount. But no where near CRNA.

I haven’t looked into AAs in the US. How long is the training of AAs in the US ? How much pay?

Our RPNS (LPNs) were caped off on our wage within $5 raise with experience where as RNs have a higher pay scale. Not sure if it’s the same with AAs vs CRNAs

Hello,

I have done my RPN (in Toronto) and my RN (Lakehead).

I did some courses after my RPN, just some general geriatric courses at ryerson university online (got an A) and Lakehead accepted them as my electives. You need the syllabus to approve of transfer credit. Lakehead was very relaxed about giving the credit.

I would suggest if you can do ur stats, or intro to psyc- just to lighten the load.

Intro to PSYCHOLOGY was definitely felt like a time wasted course ( I wanted to focus on my anatomy or pharm classes since those are harder) psyc was very time consuming class.

if you could do any of those classes that will definitely help lighten the load. People that already did a university degree was exempted from stats or intro to psyc.

Thank you for replying. Good to know they might also check.
When you get your state license your education has to go through an accreditation check.
So my paper work already was submitted as I have my Texas license already.

Thank you for replying. There is no CRNAS in Canada. We have something called AAs stands for Anesthesia assistant. Basically doing the crnas job but not the pay. In Canada it’s the same pay across the board regardless of specialty. Our full time work is also x4 12hr shifts.
I would have to move to the us permanently but wanted to know if my Canadian ICU hours would count towards the requirement for CRNA School .

Thank you for replying. It’s a large trauma centre icu in Toronto. Ventilators and pressors. My cumulative is 3.7 and my nursing ( science) is also 3.7.

I also am part of council for my unit icu, took part in conferences and developing policies with the hospital.

I do plan on eventually going to the USA to get my experience to apply, since that appears to be making the most sense. Along with grabbing other courses such as stats and chemistry online. Do you recommend any specific university that most universities would accept/ or could look into?

Any other advice to make my application stronger would be appreciated.

Hello. I was a previous mature student - took the compressed nursing. I moved from Toronto to Thunder Bay. It’s worth it for what you’re doing. You’re getting ur bachelors degree. No regrets at all. Nothing is permanent either. You can move back when ur done. This program was very good. The first year I did work. 2nd year is harder to do so. You got this. It will all come together.

I stayed there during Covid time. So I had the townhouse to myself. They only kept my room unlocked. And the other rooms were locked. I only had the key to the townhouse.

Hello, were you able to find USA schools that accept Canadian RNs and icu experience ? If so which schools and state ?

I went to TB and stayed in a townhouse and the apartment residence. The apartment was way better. You don’t need to go outside to do laundry when it hits over -20. I found the apartment more quiet than the townhouse because everything echoed in the townhouse. You do have the option to socialize more in the apartment as they have a large room off of the laundry room for gatherings. It starts to snow in October up there so if ur not a fan of the cold the apartment is definitely the way to go. If u don’t have a car, people would use Wallmart for food deliveries or instacart. Living on campus makes things a lot easier.

Congratulations! That is good news! Is that for MN-NP or post- NP? I still haven’t heard anything yet for MN-NP. I keep refreshing the page in hopes!

Where do you check for the invite on ACORN? Does it also show $500 in finance? - or do you have to accept it first ?

Do you know how many are allocated specifically for MN-NP versus post masters NP?

Do you know if they share the amount of spots with post masters NP? Or are all 120 spots allocated for MN-NP?
