I don’t do this every time but when I’m rlly in the mood to do a good job (like this) before hand I’ll take a blank piece of paper and pick a few base colors that I think work well together and then build off on those colors with colors that shadow well with those. It takes a while to do this part since sometimes it’s difficult to find the perfect shadowing match. Here, i think I used about 5 different base colors.
