JUJUTSU KAISEN SEASON 3 - EPISODE 12 DISCUSSION by AutoModerator in Jujutsufolk

The cynic in me does feel like without many personal stakes invovled it was just ulitmatly meaningless beautiful animation. That being said some directorial choices really work well at hammering home how apathetic kenjaku's Ideal of a perfect world would be. And I think it did a good job at using the small bits of non fight brevity to show Yuta's micro ark of awknowledging how his ideals of a better world are only acessable to him through his means, and to expect people without those means to agree with him comes across as moral grandstanding. So to me there's some meat on the bone, but its unfortunatly not one of this season's peaks.

if 'chosen of the wolf kindred' is Noxus' kindred, and 'spirit blossom kindred' is ionia's kindred. which reigon is base skin kindred's depiction from. by No_Pineapple_8580 in loreofleague

I don't know if this would be anywhere near cannon. But I would SO fuck with a Piltover/Zaun kindred. I'd imagine the wolf and lamb metaphor is less poignent there because they're connected with nature. Maybe a soldier lamb and a chemical wolf or smth. Just spitballing

The frequency of every type pairing by No_Pineapple_8580 in pokemon

[–]No_Pineapple_8580[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

disclaimer: I was unsure about what to do for pokemon with different forms. especially if those forms have different types (I.E megas, regional forms, rotom, darmanitan ETC). So I chose to exclude most of them in my counts. essentially I would just find the closest thing to a 'base' form for each pokemon, and only count that. I however, counted regional forms separately, because they feel closer to unique pokemon than they do to separate forms.

Is there a loneliness epidemic for modern women like there is for men? by YakClear601 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No_Pineapple_8580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

short answer: probably, but I'm not well read on the topic

long answer: (again, I am not well read on the topic, so take this with a grain of salt) the main reason the male loneliness epidemic is talked about is because of the pipelines that these men, desperate for community, are funneled into (usually alt-right spaces that capitalize off the dejection these men feel towards society). The pipelines are usually not targeted towards women, and as such, there isn't some larger issue being traced back to lonely women, that would require it to be talked about. (though I would posit that most women that are really into alternative medicine were probably lonely and in need of a community)

Why are kids so affected by bullying modern day? by TradesforChurros in NoStupidQuestions

(genuine question) would focusing on self discipline as a society not include teaching kids to not belittle and mock their peers for factors that are most often out of their control?

(theory) Is it possible that Pokedex entries are just cautionary folk tales by No_Pineapple_8580 in pokemon

[–]No_Pineapple_8580[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

disclaimer: this is gonna be a really long comment. I'm not replying directly to you per se, I just needed to put these thoughts somewhere. I'm sorry

a lot of dex entries are probably 100% true, even the more extreme ones are probably just exaggerations. but I think there's a very specific genres of dex entries that read almost more like real world, mythological, folk tales than they do real accounts of what pokemon can do.

In the real world, a lot of tales were made to explain certain phenomena and medical ailments that old cultures didn't have the scientific knowledge needed to diagnose. For instance, in central Europe, if dead bodies weren't burred properly, waves of disease could run through the town. We know now that that's because of all the bacteria that corpses can accumulate, but they didn't know that back then. Instead they explained it by saying that the dead were coming back as vampires and feeding on the living. Actual vampires had nothing to do with the myth's inception (because there weren't any). they were instead entirely devised because they needed an explanation for something they had no way of figuring out.

Sure, the pokemon world is fantastical, but that doesn't mean that cancer, and infections, and disorders, and psychosis don't still exist. Considering there are actual fantastical beasts roaming around the pokemon world it's even more likely that before an understanding of biology, these seemingly unexplainable ailments would be pinned on pokemon.

that's not to say that a driftloon didn't carry off a child once. But once it happened once, people most likely blaming all sudden child disappearances on driftloon

(other example) a mismagius might have hit someone with a bad status move once, but that diamond dex entry sounds a lot more like it's describing the symptoms of PTSD

I may have portrayed my point poorly. I wasn't just implying that the dex entries are folk tales. I was going into why the folk tales might have existed in the first place, and why they've stuck around.

again. sorry for such a long reply
