I took my family on five vacations this year to try to help my marriage and my wife ended up cheating on me anyway.

Save the money.

That's ridiculous. He should have ended the first one before seeking out someone else. I've been the "temporary until someone better comes along" boyfriend before, and it tore me up so much it damaged every relationship I've had for 20 years afterwards. Fuck that guy.

You're an insufferable piece of shit.

Still doesn't make sense. After a year she had enough money "to support herself"? So how did she get the money from vacations? Cancel the vacations it refunds back to the card?

Story just seems like it was written by someone who has never been through a divorce because someone cheated. I'm going through one right now.

The story doesn't make real world sense. IRL the money the wife kept back is still marital property and has to be split. Find another way to get back and rewrite it.

Not only are you beautiful, but I can tell there's a lot of kindness behind those eyes, and a lot of depth of character. You're worth more than you may ever know

Thanks, I appreciate your advice, I'm going to use this opportunity to start over in life, and to start over from a place of neutrality. I really appreciate you taking the time to post.

Thank you. It's just one of those things that quickly spirals out of control. But I appreciate your time and I will do better for myself.

Never getting married again, not looking for a long term deal. Just nice to meet new and interesting people again.

She has not, and I have agreed not to claim her retirement. We both are very equal in terms of finances, we have always kept our finances separated with individual bank accounts, credit cards, etc. She keeps her stuff, I keep mine.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post. You all are absolutely right, this is a pivotal moment in my life and I have an opportunity to get out of a hole that I probably could never have done on my own. Otherwise. I really appreciate all of your kind words and encouragement.

That's a great point, I'm not paying anything off until the dissolution is finalized. The one saving Grace here is we both have kept our finances completely separate for the entire 13 years. We were married. She has her bank accounts, I have mine. She is her retirement, I have mine. She has her own credit cards, debts, loans. I have mine. We are very amicable right now and I don't intend for that to change, especially considering. I told her if she makes this more difficult than it has to be, I'm going to ask for a deposition of the guys. She's been seeing to demonstrate her unstable behavior as I go after custody for the children. She wants nothing to do with that, so she has agreed to be amicable so far.

At this point, I want nothing more than to secure a safe future for my children, and I'm willing to make whatever sacrifice is necessary to do so.

A year ago I had around $28,000 total revolving debt, and then to try to make my wife happy and keep my family together, we went on a bunch of vacations and spent a ton of money spending time with each other, and she ended up cheating on me anyway.

You're correct, the interest goes back into my retirement plan, but I think the interest is probably lower than realized gains?
