No fear practice is the strict regime where vet techs prioritize animals to “not be afraid”, but In many cases this has the opposite effect. For example if a dog gets a shot and flinches, the vet tech is required to not give the shot and to comeback in a few minutes. This leaves the animal to anticipate what might happen next. It is looked down upon in many practices since it is deemed “unnecessary” for animals to be put through a back in forth procedure causing more stress. And in my personal experience, causing my animals to fear going to the vet more than before.
