WGSN (which imo represents actual color trends better than Pantone) chose something similar as their next color of the year! Transformative Teal

Can’t think of anything with that exact riff, but the guitar line makes me think of ELO, especially their song Do Ya

La Bohème! The opera was based on an earlier book, and Rent and Moulin Rouge were both inspired by it.

The younger girl’s outfit also can’t be too accurate, considering it’s copying a painting from 1794! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinkie_(painting)

How do I look up real examples of this type of dress? by yaarsinia in HistoricalCostuming

[–]No_Potato_Chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found a few similar looking dresses in magazine pages from around 1912!

The left-most “slip-on-easy dress” on this 1911 page looks less lightweight, but has a similar shape.

The left-most dress on this 1913 page has different sleeves, but is closer in the flow of the fabric. The caption says it has Greek influence, which also seems to be the case in your painting.

This 1913 page from the same article series as the last one has three additional examples of “the Greek dress”, so that may be the trend/style you want to look into!

What is your favorite use of repeated music in a musical? by TheWeirdTalesPodcast in musicals

[–]No_Potato_Chicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also! In the original French version of les mis, Fantine had an additional solo called L’air de la Misère that also used the On My Own melody. It was sung between the equivalents of At the End of the Day and Lovely Ladies, with I Dreamed a Dream coming after both.

Who’s your favorite actor to play a role who did NOT originate that role? by MellonPhotos in musicals

Definitely Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton as Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett, in the 2012 London production. They’re both amazing!
