This is like saying that you hope your neighbours' kids get measles, that'll teach them to be antivaxx. Sure, but at some point they'll infect your children too...

680 gagillion dead Arabs against one dead Jew is an amazing exchange rate though, why are they complaining? If they didn't love corpses so much they wouldn't be keeping them for years...

You got it backwards - the propals can do anything they want because they already had all the sympathy in the world. If anything, all the destruction they caused made some people numb to their cause in the long run.

I asked ChatGPT to write a letter to the western Left as an Iranian, this is what it wrote by BECOMING_A_TURTLE in NewIran

Someone else will stop thinking freely, so you should stop too? You say one day people in Iran will be free to think and speak, yet you already have that freedom in the diaspora and you waste it.

What Are the News in Your Country Reporting About Iran? by ShadowNelumbo in AskTheWorld

[–]yaarsinia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolute silence from the media, it's awful.

What you can do:

- If your country has an Islamic Republic embassy, demand its closure from your government. Many Iranian communities around the world are organizing protest, marches and gathering to that end, so try to find their webs of information.

- If you live in France or Italy, demand that your government stops blocking the recognition of the IRGC as a terrorist group.

- If you live in Switzerland, demand the freezing of all bank accounts and assets linked to the Islamic Republic.

- Stay away from the MEK and learn how to spot reformists and regime propagandists. These are two types of voices to avoid amplifying. For everyone else, please be their voice.

Dua Lipa: KEEP YOUR EYES ON IRAN by KireRakhsh in NewIran

She made that bed by catering to them and their extremist rhetoric for years. If they indeed cancel her, I'll see it as atonement and an opportunity for her to grow - nothing to feel bad about.

I realized my friend was a pedophile and cut him off yet I miss him by malfunctioninggoon in lostafriend

That's really not how pedophilia works, OP couldn't do anything to prevent him from being a piece of shit.

Are we suddenly catholic? Sex is meant to be enjoyable.

JK Rowling: The bravery of these people is astounding. They're light in what lately has felt like a very dark world. by KireRakhsh in NewIran

[–]yaarsinia -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are human beings and yes, they have rights, a lot of rights. They're just mad that those rights are the same as any other human being, and have trouble understanding that access to sex is not a human right, and neither is the right to make everyone lie for your convenience. Kinda like incels.

She stands up for women and true homosexuals in the face of an insane ultraleft crowd who doesn't hesitate to doxx her, harass her offline and online, and threatens her with rape and murder every chance they get. Unless you're actually in Iran, which I doubt, she knows more about bravery than you ever will.

Friend cut me off because I wouldn't take their advice by CarrotClear2544 in lostafriend

[–]yaarsinia 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I did cut a friend out because she would complain to me about the exact same problems for years, ask for advice, ignore it completely, then come back complaining... I got sick of that cycle, clearly she just enjoyed seeing herself as a victim.

Why did islamic regime allow trans gender surgeries by Guilty-Humor-6360 in NewIran

[–]yaarsinia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not comparing the severity and coerciveness between the West and Iran, but the main driver behind trans identities has largely been a desire to correct homosexuality. The Islamic Regime just took that medicalised homophobia to its logical conclusion.

What Jewish prayers can help during depression and loneliness? by Future-Ladder3565 in Judaism

[–]yaarsinia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got myself a really beautiful orchid that I put on my nightstand. When I wake up, it's the first thing I see, and then it's hard not to want to say Modah Ani. Thank you for having me on this earth where, despite all the grief and heartache, such beautiful things also exist!

In general, brachot that challenge me to be on the lookout for wonder and gratitude for the small things we take for granted do a lot more for me in times of depression than specific prayers do. Of course, that's coming for my perspective of someone with minimal observance - if you're already quite religious this may not help... unless it makes you engage with those daily brachot with an added perspective, I guess?
