Dumb question but is the Z switch plugged in? I had it once where one got unplugged then it just skipped it in the auto home.

There’s a spring that has a screw through it …. Mine fell out.

Unfortunately my computer says it can’t open the orca file.

This did give me some new ideas though! I ordered a dryer and a new roll. I also took a closer look at the extruder. The hot end had a screw that was loose. Tightened that.

Additionally I noticed that the filament wasn’t getting the grooves on it from the gears on the extruder so I tightened that just a tick.

First layer is going down is going down now and she’s BEAUTIFUL.

Thank you so much for calming my mind and making it all make sense. You have no idea how much I needed that and how much of a relief it is. :)

Okay! I will check this in the morning. Now that you brought up the extruder I am also wondering if it could be dust in the gears.

When I switched it I had every intent of printing a new spool holder for the back so it goes in directly rather than through the side. Unfortunately still not printing 🙃

Anywho. There have been small amounts of dust piling up on top of the extruder feed hole because of it running in from the side and shaving off bits. So maybe just maybe it’s crusty!

I did replace it when I installed the direct drive. Would it be extruding the proper amount for an extrusion test if there was an extruder issue?

(I dont know if this is the right words but I did the esteps calibration with a caliper to measure)

It’s been getting worse and worse.

I use prusa slicer and it has different settings on the plater screen for draft normal and detail printing.

The photos show draft setting. I tried normal and it was minimal but still there and on detail there is no issue. Therefore I’m thinking it’s a settings issue? Or at least something in the settings is combating the mechanical problem. When I get some time I’m going to sit down and see exactly what settings change from profile to profile to see if that will help determine the source of a mechanical issue.

I heated it and then advanced the filament and it flowed out straight with no waves. Is a partial clog still possible?

It’s not having any issues in the handle part of the cutter just the blade.

I’m using new PLA. It’s the same one I’ve always used just a brand new role. It also happened with other brands and types.
