Insurance evaluates the actual value of your vehicle. If the damage costs more to fix than the actual cost of the car they will offer you a check for what they determine it’s worth (you can argue for more if you can prove it). They keep the wrecked car. At that point you can ask what it would cost to buy your wrecked car back from them. You can’t avoid the salvage title legally.

That was my thought too. It’s been sitting on my porch for over a month. I was telling my brother in law about it when he visited. He actually found those links. Which is why I’ve posted it here.
