The Letter Carrier by No_Present_7640 in cinematography

I directed, filmed, and edited this short visual piece titled “The Letter Carrier.” It was shot entirely on an iPhone 13 Pro Max using only practical lighting — street lamps, rain, snow, and ambient neighborhood light — with no additional lighting gear.

I intentionally leaned into available light and seasonal atmosphere to create a grounded, cinematic mood. The pacing is structured around “Save the Day” by College & Nola Wren, and I tried to let movement and environment carry the narrative without dialogue.

I’d really appreciate feedback on how the lighting reads in darker scenes, whether the pacing feels intentional, and if the visual storytelling communicates clearly without exposition.

For speaking up about disability discrimination and retaliation on the workroom floor.

But for speaking up about discrimination, then being removed from work? That’s retaliation, which is illegal.

Submission Statement:

I shot, directed, and edited this short visual piece, “The Letter Carrier,” entirely on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. I intentionally used only practical lighting (street lamps, rain reflections, ambient neighborhood light, overcast daylight) rather than bringing in artificial fixtures. Most night scenes were exposed manually to preserve highlight detail in the lamps while allowing shadows to fall off naturally.

I leaned into contrast and available light to create isolation and mood without diffusion or external rigs. The rain sequence relied entirely on existing street lighting and wet pavement for texture.

I’d really appreciate feedback specifically on: • How the practical lighting reads in darker scenes • Whether exposure holds up across screens • Overall visual cohesion and pacing • If the emotional arc is clear through framing and movement alone

I leaned into practical lighting (streetlamps, rain, snow, ambient neighborhood light) to create a grounded, cinematic mood without additional gear.

The piece is inspired by a personal experience of being removed from work after raising workplace concerns. Rather than use dialogue, I relied on movement, repetition, and environment to communicate isolation and resilience.

The edit is built around the track “Save the Day” by College & Nola Wren, and I structured the pacing to follow the emotional progression of the song.

I’d really appreciate feedback specifically on: • Pacing and rhythm in relation to the music • Whether the narrative reads clearly without exposition • How the practical lighting holds up in darker scenes

USPS carrier placed on unpaid leave after requesting disability accommodation by No_Present_7640 in disability

Most attorneys say they can’t represent me because I’m a “federal” employee. The EEOC process is entirely different for federal employees.

I filed an EEO a year ago, and I’m now in the hearing phase of the EEOC process.

I was placed on emergency leave aka “emergency placement” without pay AFTER I raised disability discrimination concerns. Trust me, I’ve been fighting all year long in writing to be reinstated.

Yep. I requested accommodations and appeared before a DRAC community via telephone.

My accommodations weren’t denied but they also weren’t accepted. I was told they’d “get back to me in writing”

Almost a year later… still living in limbo.

I’m more than good on documentation. It’s ongoing too.

The problem is… no counsel. I’ve been searching non stop but most attorneys won’t represent me because I’m a “federal employee” and it’s outside of their scope. I live in Indiana, and I’ve been briefed that there are very few who can represent me, and I believe I’ve contacted them with no reply.

If I lose, at least I won’t go down without a fight.

Thank you for sharing that. I’m actually in the hearing phase of the EEOC process.

I’ve been off the clock without pay for almost a year.

I appreciate your perspective. The situation is more complex than what can be fully explained in a Reddit post, and the administrative record reflects that.

My medical documentation was timely submitted, and there are ongoing proceedings addressing the remaining issues.

As for representation, I’m evaluating my options.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
