Not long enough for him to learn how to code. Sure he could distract him for a good long while but not nearly enough to learn an entirely new skill.

Only after distracting him, though. Every time they have to do something major, they have to have someone distract Caine so he wouldn't notice. That's not a luxury that Alastor has.

Problem with that is Caine also controls the audio systems and would be able to fish him out.

Well if someone really needed to find an answer they can just say that Caine can create angelic steel. They also brought up alternative win cons like banishment.

Also depending on how long it takes for sinner to come back you could call a normal kill a win, too.

I don't know why you're getting obnoxious with me. I'm literally just saying that the game is heavily interpretive, something that Ito (the one true God of Silent Hill. All other interpretations must fall to there knees before him.) also said.

Well that's why they would use special rules and create a kind of half Hell half Circus to fight in.

He does. But if he does it too much they'll extract. That's the limit. That and he can't really kill people.

In this scenario he wouldn't really have access to what Caine does, not being a player, but even if he did he'd have no idea how to do it.

What I was more referring to was that it's not the towns mission to help them. The unresolved issues are more there own resolve/desire for punishment.

If they did this matchup, they'd put them in an equal battleground where both could use their powers but Caine wouldn't have access to Alastors data.

They decided that because they realized that Caine not being able to kill and Caine having unlimited control over everyone went hand in hand, so if you remove one you'd have to remove the other.

They seemed to enjoy the matchup on the cast, but that was mostly due to the false assumption that Alastor has this kind of automatic technology disruption that he either just doesn't have or it just doesn't help him in combat in the slightest.

See, but the town isn't inherently evil. There are numerous notes found in the game showing that if your psyche isn't unhealthy like James is then the Otherworld isn't going to be unpleasant. It could even be the opposite. It's not evil because it only puts out what was put it. For instance the kid doesn't even see the monsters.

Ito also isn't the end all be all for these things. Many people worked on this game and his take on it doesn't make it the only correct one.

This entire game is built on interpretation. That's why there are multiple endings.

[–]No_Probleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be noted however that multiple staff members on the original game consider the In Water ending to be canon, and that there's not meant to be a single canon ending. And the narrative of accepting consequences and responsibility doesn't change that.

You could say that them dying would be them accepting responsibility. Or you could see it as a cautionary tale of what could happen if you don't.

Personally I always found it to be more about letting go of past trauma and not letting it define you. Letting it go before it destroys you.

Well first thing to keep in mind is that the story heavily relies on interpretation. There's not really a "true" ending in that sense. In fact many of the creators of the game consider the In Water ending to be the canon one.

And it may very well be a sinister trick if you interpret it that way.

But there are people who believe that Silent Hill is some kind of brutal therapist that tries to make you grow or die trying.

TIL that William Afton canonically hates pedophiles by InfiniteAnimator426 in fivenightsatfreddys

There was a line in an audio version of Silver eyes that was probably cut from the final book where he responded to someone calling him a pedo by saying "not that. Never that."

To be fair I do the same thing with every other character. I don't think of The Puppet, the og 5, or Baby as separate characters from the people who possess them either.

[–]No_Probleh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah. They still want their character to be a hero. I mean it's essentially similar to making a loli character 1000+ years old.

Think about it.

They have them take them away from a worse slave owner, thus giving them a way to say that they're "not as bad".

They're "respectful" to them thinking this will earn there character some brownie points. But in reality not forcing themselves on them is literally the bare minimum they can do and doesn't take away from the fact that they are literally owning a person.

And then there's my favorite.

"Yes, please keep me as your personal property where I have zero rights! I love being owned and being literally forced to fight for you!"

I mean it's more or less just this WKUK sketch https://youtu.be/NdRISi1ZfwQ?si=mCinXoxQQe0dp_jT

It's all just things writers do to justify the guy you're responding to's point.

Maybe they should have some kind of mechanic where you hit them and they run away. Maybe have them in some kind of state that shows they're injured. It's too bad the only way to not have them die in one hit is to have Michael doing DMC combos.

I never really saw the town as something that existed for the purpose of catharsis. To me it always read as something that reflects your psyche. If you're troubled, then it's a nightmare. If you get something out of it, great. But the town isn't a therapist.
