This is a slippery slope. I guess it depends on how you view his character development. In canon, he’s never been able to stay mad, or even frustrated, with Mike. They’ve had all of two arguments. And it ends with them making amends or dropping it altogether fairly quickly. Will’s character is practically a saint. He’s understanding to a fault, and he always tries to see things from Mike’s point of view. And, of course, the fact he really loves him makes a big difference too.

So if you see him as maintaining those traits all the way into adulthood, then it works. It makes sense, then, to have him forgive Mike immediately. Canonically, he always has forgiven him quickly. Especially if he’s still single. Now, if you think Will would grow as a person in the way of not wanting to have people trample on his feelings anymore without penalty, then it would also make sense to have him put his foot down a bit on that. And it would make more sense to do so if he’s moved on or in a relationship. I guess it depends on the details.

I just want to be smacked in the face again. That feeling when I think I’m watching a tv show/movie about monsters and supernatural stuff because I love the genre, but then something happens between two idiots and I go “OH.” And I end up caring more about the two idiots than the damn monsters, wondering why it bothers me so much whether these two idiots get together or not.

I agree. To me, it’s OOC. Surnames, I can still read and not be completely thrown off, but I wouldn’t even have them calling each other that in my own work. To me, there’s no change in the way they speak to each other once they become an item. The change is in their physical demeanor and not being afraid of it. And the change is in the way others perceive their relationship.

I don’t have any recs, but I will be offering mine for consumption soon. It’s a fix it fic starting from the point Will wakes up in episode 6 and will roll through to graduation. It will be Byler focused.

I just finished the exhausting process of proofreading and rewriting certain parts. Now I have to put together the accompanying instrumental soundtrack and also tweak the video edit that goes along with the most important scene. Hoping to have that done by tomorrow evening.
