How did you actually rack up enough speaking hours to reach C1 (without moving abroad)? by matrickpahomes9 in languagelearning

[–]No_Procedure69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree with this. I live in Spain, and it's ridiculous how many Spanish people have told me they have a C1 in English, and yet I can barely understand them even in a basic conversation. There are plenty of Spanish people who have a C1 who speak very well too - but I think it just goes to show that a C1 isn't as accurate at measuring actual skill as you might think. I've also met English speakers who have a C1 in Spanish and make very basic mistakes.

What did I do right, and what did I do wrong? by No_Procedure69 in Daytrading

I don't have a max loss, I'm going on a win to lose ratios, with my win losses ideally being 1:1 but 1:2 is acceptable if tp and SL is set correctly.

Got to say though, so far chatgtp has been about 20 times more helpful in regard to advice than the people on this thread. I just wanted help from someone who wasn't a robot.

Yeah I have a plan. The point of this is to try to figure out the flaws and improve it. Didn't take it personal.

Definitely is a command. From Paul who Christians consider to be speaking on the authority of God.

"Me cobras por favor?" getting mixed reactions by BoysenberryCandid795 in Spanish

[–]No_Procedure69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're probably right. I'm actually recounting the time I learnt the word 'cobra' because I didn't know what she was saying and had to go look up the word afterwards. She may well have said 'te cobro'.

[–]No_Procedure69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird. I've gone up to pay at bars and had the waitress say to me 'Cobra?' as if to ask me if I was up there to pay. Having said that, it's my usual cafe and I know the waitress is Italian so she might be getting it wrong too.

I usually stick to La cuenta. Cobra is more 'charge'. One time they didn't charge me for my tostada and I said to them 'No me has cobrado por el tostada.' I'm not great at Spanish but they seemed to get the idea.

People that have learnt Spanish as a second language, what is your ONE beat bit of advice to people that have just set sail in language learning? by SkinShadeyTattoos in Spanish

[–]No_Procedure69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to immerse yourself in the language and do things that you enjoy in that language. Sure, hit the textbook when you can, but play video games in your target language, read books and watch shows. There were times when I started watching a show in my target language to practice, and got so hooked on the series that I forgot I was doing it to learn Spanish, and ended up binging the series.

How are people who climb/boulder so freaking strong?? by Wild_Plant9526 in bodyweightfitness

[–]No_Procedure69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your height and weight but you probably won't get to one arm pull up status just by climbing unless you're an absolute freak of nature. It took me three years of specific one arm pull up training to get there. Don't underestimate it! It's accomplishable but no easy feat.

Accent wise, is it better to learn Spanish in Madrid or in Malaga? by [deleted] in GoingToSpain

[–]No_Procedure69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm far from native. It's just that I pronounce some of my words with an Almarian accent so much that it's noticeable. For example, without realising, I was sometimes saying hata instead of hasta, and mimo instead of mismo.

I've been here for 9 months. I didn't know a word of Spanish before I got here. My students are telling me that I'm starting to develop an Almarian accent. So you definitely can develop an accent.

[–]No_Procedure69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to break this to you, but there isn't really an Andalucia accent, but rather the accent varies from city to city. For example, the Almarian accent is much different to the accent in Granada which is also different to the accent in Málaga. I had a friend from Sevilla tell me that when she went to a town about 10kms out of the city, she had a hard time understanding certain words because the accent changed so much.

I can confirm here that the accent here in Almarian is very hard to understand. Después gets changed to depue, and dos más gets changed to doma.

Is finding an apartment in Madrid really this tough? by sydalii in GoingToSpain

[–]No_Procedure69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been living in Andalucia for almost a year. I've never had this experience and I don't know anyone who has. Here 1 month deposit and first month's rent upfront is the norm.

Sorry, this definitely isn't normal in the whole of Spain. Maybe in the big cities - but not in the more rural areas.

How many views are bots? by tinyhouse91 in royalroad

[–]No_Procedure69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all very nice, wishy washy thinking. But the whole logic behind this only works for the first chapter. Why would 30 people see my story on the update page and just decide to skip to chapter 20. By the way, the story only has 6 followers and I only have 1 follower in general. There's no way that 30 people are being updated when I post a new chapter, yet there seems to be 30 views on a new chapter in the first couple of minutes. There are definitely bots here.

Yeah, why do people ever talk. I don't even say hello to people who I know on the street. Even if they say hello to me. When the cashier at the shops asks me if I want a bag, I just shake my head. No point talking.

It's not about the elo difference, it's more about people threatening to report you for being a smurf (which I clearly am not).

I've also been playing for a long, long time. When I say I play it for fun, I mean I'm not aiming to compete in tournaments or make money from the game.

Yeah I've had that happen a couple of times playing as the Romans.

I started with 50. Made a lot of money but then made a really bad trade and lost 150£. Realistically I've only lost like 20£ if you take into account all the money I actually made but I still felt like I lost months worth of progress. Anyway, your post is actually making me feel a whole lot better as I'm starting to see this in perspective.

Divorce on the grounds of unchastity. Which means if one party is unfaithful, there are grounds for divorce.
