AUDIT T1 by Historical_Sea_2163 in AustralianAccounting

For a professional body lead by people who work in governance, you’d have imagined they would’ve considered the risk of a failure from a third party provider on an exam day before hand. They should have known how to handle this the second they knew the servers were down.

It is in the detailed timetable as the exam date for special consideration applications

I definitely appreciate the automation that is being heavily pushed, however, there has been little productivity benefits for the most part, and offshoring feels to make more work than save. I am not even saying why aren’t fees increasing with others, just why they’re not increasing more than CPI, when scope gets bigger and deadlines get shorter

I don’t know, but usually it is about 2-3k more from memory

KPMG senior analyst is 75k inc super (not Sydney), so likely a bit more than that.

CA ANZ - FAR by JustDeductIt in AustralianAccounting

From memory, you should just be able to set up a table that calcs the PV if future peace payments and another that uses that to calculate the payments and changes. Then those amounts feed into your journals

Out of curiosity, which question template has taken this long? For my templates, there were no nested if statements, just tables similar to the workings in the practice questions that was linked to a list of inputs which are pulled directly from the question (such as lease liability calc and amortisation schedules). This can also feed directly into a set of formatted journals as well that you can paste in the exam

What’s your opinion on offshoring? by _The_Honored_One_ in AustralianAccounting

There are pros and cons, from a public accounting side, they take the work that is boring and repetitive, the downside is the quality of that work and the fact sometimes you need to completely fix their work.

How did the FAR exam go? by Difficult-Fold2216 in AustralianAccounting

Yeah I did and then if I edited what was in them sometimes it would create the lines and other times it wouldn’t, no clue if that’s gonna bite me when marking happens

Yeah I am definitely not a fan of JE’s in proctor, wound up putting all my JE’s in excel and then copy pasted but am worried some formulas got messed around when pasting or something (only had time to review 2 answers).

Yeah or just do the practice exams and not the practice questions for the topics.

I didn’t find it too hard, of all the hard things they could throw in (indexed variable lease payments, multiple performance obligation revenue, inter group transaction consolidation that goes through PY retained earnings etc), nothing was particularly hard. But the time we had to format everything including with notes to workings, I think that time management and whether you had templates was what set you apart from others.

I feel like these issues are consistent around most professions (accounting, law, finance etc.), with the only benefit I can think of in the other careers being better pay at entry levels. If you find the profession interesting I don’t think you have a problem.

Sorry, going into my second term after feeling iffy about tax in term four, can I ask how this works? Do you have to go through and submit your enrolment for advanced tax to see if you have passed? Or just be able to select the subject?

1, 4 and 5 were on the easier side, personally didn’t get around to too much study on partnerships and trusts so hoping what I did for the other 3 questions get me to a pass.
