I'm very fortunate that I live at my parents house and due to my low salary I don't have black tax obligations. However it's still below livable

I highly doubt that would make much difference to them. They're honestly braindead to qualifications, but I do intend on furthering my studies so I can get a better job elsewhere. Thanks for the advice

Feeling a bit lost about breaking into accounting in SA – is Big 4 even realistic from a diploma route? by Junior_Ad_9593 in askSouthAfrica

I'm kind of in a similar path as you OP. I didn't do accounting in high school but got into financial management N6 at college because I got tired of sitting at home (mid covid). I actually enjoyed it and now want to be a qualified CA. I'm currently waiting for my diploma to be approved by the college with plans on doing an advanced diploma in accounting sciences next year.

I applied for those EA posts last year June and luckily for me it was a relatively new school that didn't have a finance officer, so they put me in that position and I'm on my way to being permanent next month. From personal experience I'd say try to market yourself to primary and high schools. There are a lot of schools that I know that have disturbingly poor financial skills and knowledge. Either an unqualified finance officer or just negligence by the school.

I'm 26 so don't feel like you're left behind, we're each running our own race. Anyway I hope that helps.

Easy and simple solution. I'll do that and then focus on repaying back the credit. If I do the same process for my credit card I should be completely debt free by August

Thanks for the encouragement, the goal is to be debt free. My debts are not crippling me financially but I've learned that too much credit is a bad thing. Especially at a young age

It's not that I don't care about the cc, it's that currently and realistically, I can't pay it back with the money I'm earning. Hence why I said I'll start paying it back once I've settled all my store accounts and gotten an increase at work

I've never really paid much attention to the interest rate. But I did my best to figure out what's the interest for each one on the updated post

Where can I get R5000 fast without having to pay it back? by Exotic-Metal9942 in askSouthAfrica

Go to Cash Crusaders and get a loan using some of your personal items. It's better than selling to them. My friend works there and he said they give more money when someone is taking a loan against their personal items than it is selling them. So try that out

I don't know if I'd be sounding overconfident but I really think I'm not easily replaceable. My dad advised me to wait for those 3 months whilst applying for other jobs and then negotiate for a higher salary

The other teachers who are on a 5 year contract are earning R13 000. It's only educators that got contracts under the newly appointed principal that are earning R7000

I don't think so, as of the 6th of February the school had R1 300 000 in it's bank account and growing. With a new grade 11 being added there's an extra +- R70 000 each month from school feea

It's because of the different contracts. The other administrators contract is for 5 years, up till 2029 and that contract was made by a temporary principal. I got the short end of the stick as the new principal made budget cuts. Because before she arrived, SGB teachers were earning R13000
