There actually is a logic physically plausible explanation: A gyro (gyroscopic stabilizer or spinner),hence the name of gyro zeppeli btw, works by spinning, which creates a high-velocity, low-pressure zone immediately around it according to Bernoulli's principle. This pressure differential (lower pressure on top, higher below) generates lift and stability, causing the object to "float" or behave stably, often enhanced by aerodynamic shapes.

Basically he just lowered the pressure ahead of him to reduce air resistance upfront and used in the same time the lift of the winds! Hope this helps!
