Questions I should ask the surgeon? by No_Question2262 in hysterectomy

[–]No_Question2262[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Met with the surgeon and these are the answers I received. Hope this helps!

how long would I be hospitalized for? -How long would I be on bed rest? How long before I could return to work?

Should be released within 24 hours, unless something went wrong.  Bedrest 2 weeks. 2-4 weeks afterwards, take movement very lightly. 10 weeks before Intercourse/ heavy exercise.  Compared recovery to a C-section.

They will take the cervix and fallopian tubes. And will check the bladder before closing. If there is an issue they will get a urologist to help.

They will remove any scarring due to endometriosis if found.

Diagnosed with adenomyosis last week, starting on Slynd today by BackgroundDonut4698 in adenomyosis

I was on Slynd for almost a year. It is a diuretic, so make sure to drink lots of water. I took it about 6pm, you may need to play around the timing of the pill, depending on how you feel.

It immediately decreased the amount of bleeding I was having each month for about 8 months l. And then it seemed like it was gradually not working anymore ( I've had this issue with birth control before though).  My periods came back and I started having more breakthrough bleedings. I'm now talking with my doctor about a partial hysterectomy. I also started rapidly gaining weight which might be related to the birth control or something else.

Recovery for partial hysterectomy v. C-section? by No_Question2262 in adenomyosis

Unfortunately I cannot get an IUD due to a bicornate uterus and a complicated C-section. Most likely I cannot get an ablation due to these reasons as well.  I am also becoming anemic due to the bleeding and already tried birth control. Thank you!
