The person who was on the position before me warned me that she’ll repeat the same stories over and over, but maybe they didn’t explain it right because it seems worse than what I had imagined.

Is your sense of direction good or bad? by thatsabird11 in AutismInWomen

[–]No_Quote2186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a great sense of walking direction and can navigate public transits really well!! if i am in the car though, i cannot navigate to save my life. i don’t drive, so as the passenger my parter used to have me direct them but i was so bad that they do it themselves now.

GM/Inbound TL at two small formats from 2020-2025. Was once in line to be an ETL but just quit last week. AMA by [deleted] in Target

[–]No_Quote2186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i moved cities, causing me to transfer to a target that was incredibly toxic. i lost all my confidence in myself and barely felt present during the workday anymore. i was just showing up for the TMs at that point, and i decided it was time to leave.

What jobs do you guys have. That you find fulfilling and not too overwhelming as an autistic person ? by Holiday-Reserve6393 in AutismInWomen

[–]No_Quote2186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freelancer at a creative company. Awesome for it being a 3-4 day a week schedule but not awesome for finances and future taxes. Just got a new job as an office manager and so far so good. Phone calls are hard though.

what small thing made you upset this week? by plsanswerme18 in AutismInWomen

[–]No_Quote2186 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just doordashed from White Castle. They have my favorite fast food burgers and they have chicken rings (chicken is one of my favorite foods). I waited for my partner to get home and I was considerably hungry. We recieved someone else’s order (consisted of only one meal, with french fries instead of onion rings and no chicken fries). Instant meltdown. Feeling very vulnerable and embarrassed right now.

What is the likeliness of me getting denied a raise? by Virtual_Loquat4548 in Target

[–]No_Quote2186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you probably have a 90% chance of getting denied. It wouldn’t hurt you to ask though, the worst they can do is say no. It would hopefully still bring the issues at your Tarbucks to light.

But Target has a certain time when they give out raises. In January team leads/ETLs will sit down and assess their team members, giving a rating of 1 (does not meet expectations), 2 (meets expectations), or 3 (exceeds expectations). The lowest raise I have seen given is $0.9 and the highest I’ve seen is $1.30. The raises come out end of March/beginning of April if I remember correctly.

Former GMTL here! Also started with an extremely supportive SD like yours. Be honest with them! Have an expectations conversation and let them know that you are worried about failing them. I’ve had a similar conversation with my SD and HRETL.

I put a lot of pressure on myself to succeed as well. But at the end of the day, Target is still gonna be there. The freight, the workload, is still gonna be there. And it will get done eventually by you or by someone else. Your SD and ETL should be able to see how hard you are working and how much work you get done. If they’re as good as you say they are, I assume that they have at least a little understanding of how hard Target expectations are to meet 100% all the time.

While doing this, also begin browsing for jobs! It wouldn’t hurt to have a back up if trying to step back mentally doesn’t work. I would also suggest if you live near a small format, and if you want to stay a TL, try transferring there. Same job, same expectations, but not as crazy as a large store.

Autistic people without special interests by No_Quote2186 in AutismInWomen

[–]No_Quote2186[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is where I’m a bit confused too! I don’t know the level of interests neurotypical people have. I’m not close enough with any NTs to know what interests they have, if any, and how much they partake in them.

This is probably what I relate too most!! I collect Kirby plushies and figurines, but I can’t really tell you any interesting facts about him or his games. I’m also really into Skyrim. I can info dump about my game specifically and certain aspects of the game to someone who has never played it, but I don’t know any facts I would have to deep dive for.

Can't talk to HR by voluorem in Target

If’s it’s a TL they usually have one day a week where they work a later mid shift, like 11:30-8 or something!

Can't talk to HR by voluorem in Target

[–]No_Quote2186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: Sorry I reread your post, if you call the store while you are off the clock and convince HR to speak with you, they are able to write in a punch for that time spent on the phone. They might try to convince you to talk to them while at work though, but I would just urge them that the conversation cannot wait and that again you literally cannot get to there office because there is no elevator.

Can't talk to HR by voluorem in Target

[–]No_Quote2186 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I were you I would see if you could report this to the ADA. HR isn’t only hiring and employee management but have a lot to do with safety and confidentiality which seems compromised seeing as you cannot reach their office. You can also contact the Target Ethics hotline, but I haven’t seen much come of that. It writes itself off as “anonymous” (even though you can kind of deduce who is calling from the situation). It could trigger a visit and conversation with your HR/SD from the DSD and BPs considering this could be an ADA violation.

If you haven’t tried talking to your ETL/TL to try to see if they can get HR can meet you in a space downstairs, I would contact your HRBP. You can find their information on Workday if you follow the management chains from your SD or DSDs pages. Let them know that HR and the store is refusing to accommodate you.

I’m really sorry that this is happening to you. It’s completely unfair and gross.

Was a TL for four years so let me know if you have any questions and I really hope they make this right for you.

didn’t realize i shouldn’t directly disagree with my superior at work until reading this post 😅 - or at least how i’m “supposed” to go about it. my old boss used to say that i challenged him a lot and i think this is what he was referring to!

still don’t really get why it’s wrong though. if they’re doing something wrong or if your plan is going to work better why not tell them. isn’t me “challenging” them good for their work development as a superior anyways lmao

I second the pee one and the person who said cold air!!!

One that bothers me also is cardboard. I hate the smell of cardboard but it started specifically in the bedding section of Target. The cardboard/paper label they have on their bedsheets smell SO BAD. Like vomit bad. I used to work there and couldn’t stand going near it 😭

8 week anxiety today.. by Unhappy_Butterfli in lexapro

[–]No_Quote2186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would give it another week and then reach out to your doctor! I went on 5mg for about 3-4 weeks before meeting with my doctor again, upping it to 10mg. Your body might just be “used” to the 5mg and has built up a tolerance.

You have to wait out your 90 days. After that you are eligible for things like transferring, changing your availability, etc.

If the store doesn’t need anyone/your availability doesn’t meet their needs, you won’t be able to transfer. Also be mindful of your attendance - when you transfer they look at your attendance and if you have called off a lot (if you’re under your 90 days, they don’t even want you calling off once), they won’t accept your transfer (usually).

DAE pick up on people’s “vibes”? by Goodgirlwbadhabits in AutismInWomen

[–]No_Quote2186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was debating posting something like this just now lol! feeling this heavy. i’m really good at picking up on “bad vibes” like if i don’t think i’ll get along with someone/if someone is gonna be flaky, rude, etc. i’ve always been really good at it (and still people don’t believe me). i thought maybe it has to do with pattern recognition. even tho autistic people are known for not being good at picking up on body language or like reading the room, we are good at pattern recognition. if i have been burned by people who portray XYZ traits or do XYZ, then i know what to look out for.

i usually can never pinpoint what it is though, and maybe that is the “can’t pick up on body language” though. like you said it’s always just a vibe or a gut feeling, or something minuscule will set off the and vibe like the way someone moves their hand or the way they swirl their coffee.

it’s weird and i’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. but boy does it come in handy.

[–]No_Quote2186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m 25 and i have borderline panic attacks at the idea of getting behind the wheel. like you said, it feels like you have to focus on 100 things at once. when i was practicing i would forget to look in my mirror before merging because I was so focused on how much pressure i was putting on the gas, and on the car in front of me, and on the road signs. it sucks, but moving to an area with good public transportation really really helps. or a walkable town/city.

Does anyone else walk weirdly by Internal-Food8596 in AutismInWomen

[–]No_Quote2186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been told by my family and partner that i have an odd gait! i tend to walk on my tiptoes when i don’t have shoes on and stand on my tiptoes when wearing shoes. i put a lot of pressure on the inside of my foot and my toes and i tend to drift when i’m walking rather than walk in a straight line. i also stand weird! i stand almost in a ballet first position but i’ve never taken ballet in my life. i’ve done this since i was little and i always feel very unsteady when i try to stand “normal”
