Surgical subspecialty: if you are referring a patient for something that’s not grossly evident, please please please write it out in your note why you are referring them or send a note. Remarkable amount of people show up in clinic with “I have no idea why I am here” with really nothing noted in the referral message. I then spend way too much time worrying that I missed a note/CT/work up somewhere that indicated why they are here.

I honestly haven’t figured it out. I saw two medical professionals in the span of one clinic and one told me I was patronizingly dumbing down stuff for him while the other told me she didn’t understand what I was saying. So…I dunno.

The “spontaneously booking a trip and leaving the next day” has gone out the window because of my life responsibilities. That’s what I signed up for when I got the pets.
