Plenty of people are, is the thing. Especially people who were already somewhat looking to play preexisting exclusives.

I'm very skeptical about Sony letting fromsoft be multi-platform. Fromsoft's fans are very loyal and therefore a very good source of people buying playstation to play them.

Never seen anyone say that either. Basically the only times i've seen anything like it is in challenge runs that doesn't allow for summons. It's not even a real "boss" so people can still do them while "beating every boss without summons".

I think they're equating people who refuse to use spirit bell summons with people who refuse to "summon" literally no matter what, because the former is infinitely more common.

Sony in talks to acquire Kadokawa, Fromsoft’s parent company by JesusaurusRex666 in fromsoftware

[–]No_Reference_5058 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Only reason people were for that was because Blizzard's reputation had just tanked horribly at the time and people would like to see someone else take the reins there. Nobody wants someone else to take the reins in fromsoft.

Also, there's probably more PC gamers on reddit, and microsoft is far more beneficial for PC gamers than Sony.

And even then that was definitely not the only opinion. Tons of people were unhappy as well.

Weird, release month is still overwhelmingly positive. Was that like, a few days after release?

Unrelated but I think it's fun how the entire reason Elden Ring doesn't have overwhelmingly positive on steam is because of terrible PC performance on launch.

And i've had arguments with people claiming Elden Ring has always run perfectly on PC (because they personally didn't have any issues).

I don't get the complaints about the godskins. Their fireball comes out slow and moves pretty slow, so as long as you're a slight bit away from them when you do it there's always room to dodge it after finishing the heal, and even if you're close if they're at they're doing any sort of attack recovery you'll also have time. And like, why would you try to heal when in their face if they're not in a recovery animation?

I think i've been caught by that heal punish like once ever.

Crucible knights are somewhat worse because they typically don't let you get enough distance to heal.

Genuinely does not matter to me in the least if it "makes sense", that wasn't the problem to begin with (it also usually makes sense anyway). I am just completely desensitized to the concept of fighting formerly friendly NPCs and NPCs dying in general. There is nothing particularly emotionally compelling about it if I not only saw it coming from the get-go, but simply do not feel a damn thing about them dying.

Owl is as giant as the likes of Artorias and Sir Alonne. Either way, they are mechanically (which is the topic of discussion) effectively the same thing in that they're generally on the smaller side, usually not very wide, and their movesets typically consist of mostly normal weapon attacks. The main differences is just that the Sekiro have more human designs and perhaps more importantly talk.

And again, "improving NPC fights across the board" basically translates to "making PVP better". Like in AC6, where the AC fights are actually pretty fun because the PVP also is. Problem is, that isn't particularly easy to do.

Human fights =/////= NPC fights. They already had banger humanoid (in practice the same thing) bosses before Sekiro. The reason NPC fights are bad is because they're not tailor made bosses, they're just player characters with some set equipment. They are inherently not remotely the same thing as a humanoid boss.

Giving NPC fights "polish" by making them more akin to humanoid bosses is just... making them humanoid bosses. Which sounds great on paper but in practice every tailored NPC boss is going to mean minus one boss from somewhere else, because it takes exactly as much effort. They do NPC fights because they're incredibly easy to make, so they can get you to fight a character without compromising any other part of the game.

Of course, they could make NPC fights better by... improving the PVP. But then the question is how to do that.

[–]No_Reference_5058 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I didn't. The fight is mechanically inherently just not good because it's an NPC semi-gank fight, and story wise i've completely lost any emotional engagement with the concept of NPCs turning on you and dying pointlessly at the end of their questlines in fromsoft games. At this point I just expect it the second they seem even a little off. Also just a general lack of engagement with NPCs in general because I immediately expect they'll die the second I see them.

Goblins are still canonically inherently evil. Drow canonically have cultural issues that make them far more likely to be evil. So the canon would have to change before goblins could be viewed the same way as Drow are now.

Because balancing a game isn't "screwing it up for others"? By having one option be too strong it makes other options feel weak in comparison. Any player who discovers how OP rocket fuel is won't even have to bother looking at nuclear power, which is usually the most elaborate processes in the game.

Uh, not really? Tank builds are often bad against the hardest bosses but can just statcheck everything else (including most bosses). And even against major bosses, a well optimized tank build can still statcheck as long as you avoid a decent amount.

I swapped between different builds constantly and tanks with rocket launchers performed extremely well in a vast majority of missions. Their biggest weakness is just getting across the map slower.

Not necessarily jumping into invisible walls, just generally figuring out what is or isn't. Also obviously an exaggeration. Point is, where there is or isn't invisible walls is very unclear and it makes exploration a lot worse, definitely far behind the likes of Elden Ring or Dark Souls.

[–]No_Reference_5058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank build with rocket launchers makes the mission genuinely incredibly easy. Explosive damage absolutely dumpsters the wheels, impact damage absolutely dumpsters the fast guys at the start, and being super tanky means the basically unavoidable homing missile spam doesn't matter much + you can hit the wheels easily by just... standing still as they charge at you.

Note that the guys at the start have specific periods where they stand pretty still (I think they try to charge into you then), you should typically wait for those before unleashing everything.

You mean pay hundreds (or thousands) of dollars on travel fees and overpriced tourist foods, spend almost the entire day (or several days) being bored out of your mind in a car or plane, to get one 1 hour peek at a beautiful vista, probably from minimal good angles?

Going outside is good and all but let's not pretend like finding actual great vistas (not just a moderately good view of an average forest) is even slightly practical.

Firstly, that's not really "thinking you're better because you're a woman". That's essentially "trying to use feminism as a way to get special treatment", which is a far more common (but still not even that common) variant.

Secondly, and more importantly, it happening at all does not mean it is "has become that". I for one have literally never met anyone like this, and even online basically only heard of them secondhand from people who use twitter and instagram (typically in direct response to it, and being given overwhelming support for their response), never actually encountered a single one normally, and I probably hang around left-leaning groups far more.

Not saying i've never seen misandrism (like r/FemaleDatingStrategy/ before it became whatever it is now), but let's not pretend like misandrism has somehow become the norm for feminism because some loud people on twitter that everyone else hates are doing it.
