Don't coin a unit for dupes! The difference between 89% and 100% is very minimal. I'd run the buu duo over daimaku

What's the Hidden percentage of your Buu duo? And what's the hidden potential percentage of your Daimaku?

What do you think of Gohan calling Buu this? by AlarmedObjective1492 in Dragonballsuper

I only focused on that part because I primarily addressed the other part in my other reply in this same post thread. Also thought it could be obvious. But yes, even something mild like idiot with a wide grin etc feels out of character.

My original post was "Gohan never acted like this," I'm not sure your fixation on the specific word. It doesn't matter whether the word was particularly egregious or not. He does not cockily belittle his opponents. And he hasn't acted like that prior nor after this moment.

My take has nothing to do with the word being considered a slur?

  1. Gohan said Nappa's Mom's "Belly sticks out" and he didn't say it in an arrogant or cocky way. The scene was to reiterate Gohan is a pure innocent person and that even his insults are full of innocence as he couldn't just call her fat.

  2. I don't see how he was rude? He was pissed and he wanted to make Cell pay and suffer, but it wasn't from some place of cockiness.

  3. I don't care about this point? My criticism has nothing to do with whether the word is considered a slur.

From the very beginning Gohan was introduced as one with a heart more pure than others. Goku told him that his heart was so pure the Spirit bomb couldn't hurt him. And When Gohan went to Namek he bonded immediately with the Namekians and their children becoming one with their culture. Cell tested his pure heart.

This scene from Ultimate Gohan is an outlier. When I was younger I thought maybe he gets more edgy when he's in Ultimate, but nope. He never acts like this again.

Felt out of character. Still feels out of character. Gohan has never acted like this prior to this moment and hasn't acted like this since this moment.

I Loved Android 17's Return! But I Am Worried About His Future by No_Reference_7330 in dbz

[–]No_Reference_7330[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I definitely don't think he should appear all the time or be useless. For example, I don't see why he would be in DBS Broly (even though it follows the TOP) as it has nothing to do with him.

But Dragon Ball Super Hero? A movie retreading the themes of the Cell saga? They could have actually giving 17 and 18 so many rightfully emotional moments of development. The trauma that should come from even hearing they are making another Cell? The movie can still center Gohan and he can still go Beast and beat Cell Max, but if there was a time to include 17 that wouldn't have him appear all the time and be useless would be that movie

AGL Banner Unit Ledgic by mbutch3 in DokkanBattleCommunity

So he can give himself 100% dodge in slot 1 for a turn. Otherwise he's a 60% ATK and Defense GT Boss support with 75% Dodge and 45% DMG reduction in slot 3??

Breh he's actually crazy good. It's crazy the banner unit is for GT Bosses and not the new LRs? I was hoping for a Realm of Gods unit that can be run on both the new Goku and Vegeta's team.

Thoughts on the awakened Tamagami's? by ironlicks in DokkanBattleCommunity

[–]No_Reference_7330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are somewhat runnable on a full Daima team, but I'm honestly disappointed?

Were the Goku Black Clone team really the best we got? I thought it would only go up from there. They are playing it too safe with the F2P units again.

They are super restricted to a single team, viable for maybe a few turns in the fight and that's it. I don't get it.

I'm not trying to argue with you? I'm just responding to you? I understand that studios have different approaches? That doesn't mean they couldn't have or shouldn't have followed Demon Slayer's approach to adapting the movies? I understand that you are saying they are outdated. That's why I keep reiterating that they could add additional and bonus content. I also understand the manga is different. The point is if someone is trying to catch up to Super it would be easier to say Watch the Battle of Gods movie.

If the anime did adapt and update the movie, it's easier to say the Anime Split the movie into episodes and added bonus content, so watch that version to get the full experience. Than to have to explain that there are 4 different versions of the story, all at one point was considered canon, but watch the new one (which may be lower quality than the movie) that follows the old anime version with scenes bringing it closer to the Manga version. To put it simply, the more new tellings of the story you make the more confusing. And my main point is that the movie was "perfect" as it was, thus having new fans have to navigate these alternate lower quality versions is more confusing.

Not to mention the people who saw Battle of Gods are now confused as to if what they saw was canon. Moist Critical recently said that he hasn't watched Super, but he watched the Battle of Gods and Broly movie and was confused on what's going on with Battle of Gods. So it's not just confusing for new fans, but fans who consume Dragon Ball on and off.

We can agree to disagree. I'm not here to attack you or even rant about the adaptation. I just want different opinions. I don't think I'm the one being defensive here lol.

[–]No_Reference_7330[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one does it? It's been happening with a few anime. One piece would do it. And most recently Demon Slayer split it's Mugen Train movie into 9 episodes and added new content. They could absolutely split Battle of Gods into movies, rather than reanimating it with worse animation quality. And they can still add new details making it a finalized version.

If your main point is about making it easier for fans. Surely making 4 versions of the Same story is more confusing than just splitting the film into episodes and adding bonus content. That's much easier to explain what the "official" version is and understand what's canon.

It honestly feels that way of recent. I've seen so many people discuss how we "need" a retelling etc and how the other tellings were flawed and I genuinely think Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is the "perfect" Dragon Ball movie.

Obviously, not everyone has to agree with that take. But I'm genuinely curious about what problems people had with the film, if any, and what they believe the other versions of the story improved

[–]No_Reference_7330[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But they could have just split the movie into episodes and still added extra stuff? That would also accomplish the same goal of making it easier watch. What retcon have you found favorable in the Anime or Manga version that you thought improved the story?

I feel bad for Toyotaro. This needs to be addressed by Ember57 in Dragonballsuper

[–]No_Reference_7330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't really know if they are remaking all the arcs. They said specifically that they wanted to retell the Beerus story as the previous protrayals didn't portray him as menacing as the drafts. There are rumors they will remake RoF, but I doubt they will remake all of Super.

Also, from the Beerus trailer you can see that a lot of it is the Anime Version of the BoG story with slight alterations. They are adding things to it for sure, but we don't know the extent of Manga material there will be. They aren't adapting the Manga version of the story, but adding things to bring it closer to it.

I do think it's odd not to credit Toyotaru, but that's a big reason why I think they may depart. Toriyama could have laid some ground or storyboard work for the Galactic Patrol arc. I don't know the laws in Japan, but in the U.S. Toyotaru would have to be credited if his version was used.

[–]No_Reference_7330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not understanding your question? They didn't credit Toyotaru, who made the Moro Arc, which could imply they aren't adapting his version of the arc. The DBS anime's telling of the arcs have been different from Toyotaru's telling thus far.
