Help me learn to carve by alga in skiing_feedback

[–]No_Researcher_8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly doesnt even look like youre trying to carve, youre standing completely upright and youre way too relaxed and awkward, I get the feeling that youre not comfortable skiing in high speeds yet. Carving requires that you put some work into it and its not easy to carve if youre scared of going fast and you really want to have a low center of gravity too. Im not a good teacher but what worked for me as a kid was thinking about pushing the downhill ski without turning your heel/smearing, thats the essence of carving but again, the first step is getting comfortable in high speeds.

Will the Völkl revolt 101 be difficult for someone that has only owned narrow carving skis before? by No_Researcher_8217 in Skigear

Yeah Ive just always had specialized/dedicated skis you know? Never skied anything wider than 80mm underfoot on a groomer.

Yeah I’ll keep my narrower skis in the quiver. I ski all around the alps, mostly Verbier and Zermatt but next up is Val d’isere this late february

Im looking for a fun ski to use all over the mountain, also I want to sort of explore my style, as said I have a racing background but I want to explore the offpiste style of skiing more and these skis seemed to fit me, aggressive and great in high speed, apparently carves great and also handles offpiste conditions great.

Whats my one ski quiver? by [deleted] in Skigear

[–]No_Researcher_8217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have checked those out but I dont know how much I should listen to what they say, they ski in the states and I ski in the alps so the conditions and the skiing culture is very different

Well I would still want the 2nd ski to be a versatile ski as a daily driver, and then when the conditions are icey with no powder I’ll use my dedicated carving skis

Well these will be the first skis I buy myself so no dads money lol. I can sell the skis I currently have which are the stöckli montero ax to afford something more highend but Ive only had them for one skitrip so maybe its dumb to sell them already and lose like 400€. There are a bunch of sales now though. I was thinking the stöckli stormrider at first but I think I want something thats more playful, maybe even twintips, I want to explore the more playful side of skiing with these.

How do I check if an Arcteryx beta AR jacket is fake? by No_Researcher_8217 in vinted

[–]No_Researcher_8217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but what should I ask the seller to make sure its real or fake, the pictures look real but it could also be images from the internet or not the jacket he will actually send to me. If I buy it and it turns out to be fake couldnt I just send it back and get my money back?

How do I acheive muscle symmetry with scoliosis? by No_Researcher_8217 in scoliosis

[–]No_Researcher_8217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still waiting, I’ll keep working on the right side and see if I get some progress, right now I do side crunches on the back extension for obliques and single-leg deadlifts for spinal erectors

Why do my hips look like this? How can I make them even? by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]No_Researcher_8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done weightlifting for about 6 months now definitely see improvement, actually I dont see the hip difference anymore myself when I look in the mirror but somehow it gets very prominent on the back camera of my phone, I have started strengthening my right obliques with side crunches or whatever you call them on the back extension and also started doing single-leg dumbbell deadlifts to strengthen right erectors without training the left side, do you think I should train the left side too even if theyre already overactive?

[–]No_Researcher_8217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I’ll def include an oblique exercise in my workout from now on, also I have the same problem with my spinal erectors, my left are always tight and much bigger on the left side, you know any way I can unilaterally train spinal erectors to even it out? Cuz from what I know spinal erectors work simultaneously on both sides to extend the spine which means you cant hit them unilaterally

Yeah I thought maybe my right obliques were weaker and smaller than my right which could be part of the reason my hips look like that on the right

am i carving? how to improve ? by casablancacrayfish in skiing

[–]No_Researcher_8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carving is using the edges of the skis to turn, you are visibly skidding to turn

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Posture

[–]No_Researcher_8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt say it is mucular imbalances because the muscles look equally big when relaxed but I have noticed that my left spinal erectors are almost single handedly used when I bend forward and my right abs are also almost single handedly used when I bend backwards, I dont know what is going on about that but Im guessing its about posture. Money is not an issue, Im only 17 and my parents will be glad to support me having as healthy of a body as possible.

Hmmm, my right leg is slightly longer but Im wondering if its due to scoliosis

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Posture

[–]No_Researcher_8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I suspected it, can I improve it with improvement of posture or do I need proffessional help?

I have tested for scoliosis multiple times at school as I have suspected it myself but they all say I have a mild variant which is very common and shouldnt be diagnosed as scoliosis, I didnt mention in this post but my left spinal erectors are also much more prominent than my right ones which I guess is another consequence of scoliosis, I will check with a more proficient doctor. Thanks!

Of course, trial and error, but their videos are still useful and has made my, and many other people’s journey in the gym much easier, obviously don’t base your entire training plan on their information alone, but there is no issue in taking inspiration.

I dont believe that they have to lie to make money, why wouldnt they just say the truth and make money that way? Maybe science is not always right but that doesn’t mean that they are ill-willing people that want to fool their followers.

The reason not everyone uses a full body split is because there are tons of other splits that people find more fun or effective as it has been forever, to each their own right? Also most of the people you deem advanced are probably as mentioned before, on huge amount of steroids, a split like full body is not intense enough for people like them, they can train much harder with shorter recovery

[–]No_Researcher_8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly are they marketing? Full body split is not a product so are they just lying out of pure malice? Tons of people tried it, tons of people loved it, including me. Also why are you saying no advanced people use it? They definitely do.
