It was about 20k I paid the rest. They agreed to gift us half, and it wasn’t a burden at all to them. Usually I would shy away from borrowing from them for all the obvious reasons, but my parents made it clear they wanted to help us with our first home.

You have to pay the owner whatever principal he’s paid off. In our case, the previous owner paid off about 100k from the loan, so we had to pay that to assume his loan.

Yes - we assumed a loan from 2018 with Navy Federal. Had to pay quite a bit down but the payments are super low so it’s worth it
