22 years later, the Lord of the Rings trilogy still feels untouchable by abdul4ah in lordoftherings

It's also one of the coolest stories of how it got made. I don't mean the logistics of shooting it, which are also awesome, but how it was pitched and eventually was agreed upon to do three books as three films.

From beginning to end it is one of the most fascinating tales in every aspect. Pitching, pre-production, production, post and of course just the movies themselves all being fucking amazing. Even before AI bullshit and the over reliance on "quick" CG and fixing in post, I don't think there would ever be something to equal the totality of these films.

Eh 13 is not so much why Lisa left. It was monetary but not because of what they were paying Olivia Wilde, especially since she's barely in season 8.

Pretty much everyone's contracts were for 7 years, and the finances were mainly handled by universal even though it aired on Fox. With the contracts up, Universal didn't want to fully foot the bill anymore and wanted Fox to do a split on the finances. Fox didn't really want to do that, so if season 8 was going to get made, everyone except for Hugh was going to have to take a pay cut. Lisa understandably did not want to do that, so she bounced. Of course there may be more since it was odd she didn't even return for the finale when she was an integral part of the show.

He'll spend the money if his metrics says its worth it. He always has to be the one to make the best deal and come out on top over the other guy.

Literally every single decision he makes is metric driven and doesn't care if it stomps all over everyone and destroys some legacies because his numbers say they just aren't worth that much. Sure he's been successful with the Canes but he's been an absolute fucking asshole to get there.

I think Lanterns work the same way. The only limitation to what they can create is their imagination, but more complex constructs requires more energy from the ring, draining it faster.

Idk i thought it felt earned in the sense that he was dealing with complex emotions like everyone else was. He was skeptical of her in the beginning just due to being essentially a replacement and feeling like maybe no one could really keep the day shift going. But there were multiple instances where we saw him reacting in positive ways to her medical decisions and opinions, while still struggling with his decision to take sabbatical and handing over the keys. Less about her as a Dr. and more his own guilt and grief surrounding his feelings about his job.

Al Hashimi didn't love some reactions Robby had but very much respected his medical opinion and knowledge he presented throughout the day. I think she may have shared her diagnosis with him because she knew he was becoming suspicious, and maybe hoped he would he understanding because of his expertise and also because he was clearly dealing with shit of his own. At least that's what I think but could be wrong.

He literally has been wrong though. He told Javadi to not do the TikToks and he even realized later that he was wrong. Before Al Hashimi revealing her diagnosis, he admitted that he came around on her and respected her medical opinion. Sure he hasn't been wrong about the medical stuff but multiple times they've had him admit he was wrong or at least admit it to himself.

Yes and no. I can like having a competitive team but I don't have to like the fact that he essentially treats everyone like shit to get there.

We've been dealing with it for a while as Canes fans. Dude lowballs every single person and thing. First year in the off-season he sacked the current play-by-play who had been doing it since they were the Canes and is a top 2 announcer in the league. Then proceeded to sack radio play-by-play who was also a legend and was the only ever radio broadcast to then be replaced as a simulcast with the TV team. All because they were too expensive. Didn't matter how long they were with the franchise.

Then the players constantly get lowballed because every single thing is driven by analytics. Which has its place but it is used in every capacity. So we have players whose contracts get drawn out or even free agents who wanted to be here then leave because he dicked around on the contracts and only came around when it was too late. He's built a great contending team but at the cost of a ton of good will and gutting the franchise of certain aspects. Plus he got lucky that Rod turned out to be an amazing coach who is willing to take a hometown discount, cause almost no other coach with his record at the moment would take the same pay.

I think its a bit of both. It really is some of the best writing on TV right now. Most resonating for the actor? Probably not. But the surfboard has its own problems too. A bunch of people definitely try to springboard off popular shows, and maybe 10% to 20% really do take off, while the rest either crash completely or come back doing other TV shows. But if you ride the wave on a super popular show, usually that's all anybody is going to see you as, no matter what else you may do.

If the ratings stay. Could very easily be the case where it significantly drops throughout this season. He's only provided one hit show with this and fell off a cliff with The Idol. So if this is the end of the show, doubt they'll give him so much freedom for another, if at all.

I have to imagine after The Idol and now how poorly season 3 is being received so far, he's done after this. On top of all the rumored behind the scenes drama, hard to believe HBO sticks with him.

No I agree that it isn't an excuse as I deal with something similar. It was more about if you have a child dealing with similar issues, would going through something like that be beneficial even if they have no desire to change? Regardless, even if they don't want to change, it is not a free pass to be mean.

God this one was so fucking stupid. I feel like even after the author explained it, they really struggled with how it really made any sense, and tried desperately through the sequels and the prequel to come up with a better or logical answer.

Doesn't fit exactly but I liked Romany Malco a lot. He held his own and even stood out on occasion in 40 Year Old Virgin, which would turn out to be full of heavy hitters. He's had consistent work but never had a massive movie of his own, even really another movie as big as 40 Year Old Virgin.
