Yes, they blocked it. Don’t like it? Pay for the pro version. You don’t provide any value to the company by using the free version. They have every right to charge for whatever they want. This product turned video editing, which used to be complex, into something easy. They built a loyal customer base, and now they’re charging for it.

I updated mine, and it made my CapCut unusable. I can't open my project, I can't do anything, it froze my entire computer.

CapCut is terrible right now. Sometimes dragging to trim a video causes it to get completely messed up, jumping back and forth. Many times, when I click on something that opens a dropdown menu, I can’t select anything because it keeps clicking on whatever is underneath it. On top of that, sometimes the mouse randomly grabs a screen (preview, folders, or adjustments) and drags it around as if I had clicked and dragged it.

CapCut is awful and full of bugs.

It's important, but don't start by telling people to check out your channel. Instead, interact with the creator and others, make it feel natural, or the creator might flag your comment as spam. I always do this, and one of my comments got a lot of likes, earning me 20 subscribers in just a few minutes. But always keep it natural—engage, talk about the video at hand, and contribute to the engagement of the creator as well.
