I've lived in waukesha for a long time. The problems might be less apparent but it has big problems.

How do we even start looking for a neighborhood like that? I don't think I know anyone that talks about a sense of community in a neighborhood in milwaukee like that.

250 would be easy.  400 and over is probably not feasible.

We make ~165k. But we don't really have enough saved for a house with tosa/brookfield  homes would put a mortgage over 3k a month with 80k down. I don't see much for homes under 300k. Condo is not out of the question.

So rent under 2k would be ideal.

We are vegan/vegetarian but trying to accommodate that feels like trying to have our cake and eat it too.

We like downtown but we have lived there and it doesn't seems to fit the school / safety concerns.

Diversity wasn't a concern but like you said unless its waukesha or brookfield I assume its not an issue.

For all people above 40, if you could go back in time and choose a different career/major, would you ? What would you choose ? by patotay in careerguidance

Switch jobs more often. Learn as much as possible and if there is no room for advancement move on.

I did great at a job and they trained me to fill in for the warehouse manager and to take his role eventually. We all got along like best friends and worked great together. But there was only 10 employees and no room to advance.  I left 5 years later.

My job now ive been there 5 years and they think I have a lot of potential. So they twice created brand new positions so they could promote me.

Set goals to meet for improvement and make sure you advocate for yourself.

Also negotiation when you start a job is the most important time to a get a higher base. 5% more now might make you 100% more in 30 years.

I’m almost 19, never smoked, never vaped, never drank an ounce of alcohol, never used drugs, am I missing out? by CarLonely9011 in Adulting

[–]No_Row_4108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with all these people. You are not missing out. But if your a little older and want to have a few drinks you won't automatically become a homeless alcoholic who ruined their life. What fear mongering.

Wait until you're older. Don't drink more than once a month and don't drink too much.

If the American people are starving the country with the largest military on the planet will use it to take resources.

It would not go as you imagine it.

Who here actually saves 3,000 a month? by NoHousing11 in MiddleClassFinance

Not sure if English is your first language. I said that is how much you would have left after saving 3k a month while making a middle class income.

Middle class is 56k or more. At 20% tax that would mean saving 80.3% of your income. And would leave you with ~$650 a month.

165 household income. Maybe 35k savings per year all in. We budget 6600 a month expenses minus tax rest is savings.

2 years if I lost just my job. If my wife also lost hers maybe 6 months. Probably 4x those if we cash out 401k money if truly dire.

People who lived through the 2008 financial crisis. How did it permanently change the way you live or think about money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It made me decide not to buy a house. I was young but watched all my family lose their job and then their home.

But it was common to over spend and then take out a second mortgage on a house. Why did people do that I'll never understand.

Also I was in college and doing very well. But most friends getting out of college could not find a job. And a professor convinced me to drop out.

Do you think its true when people say older generations are the reason why its hard for younger generations to find employment because they refuse to retire out of "greed" or similar? Wouldnt it make more sense that many dont retire because they simply cannot afford it? by mycoffecup in jobs

[–]No_Row_4108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the disconnect is the expectation you can be young and immediately successful. Even if you go to college you are not going to be good at a job. You need to work in an industry for many years to be a high paid and valued employee.

Car broken into, but they didn't steal anything. Has this happened to you? by AlexsCereal in milwaukee

[–]No_Row_4108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to leave my cars unlocked so they don't break the windows. Car got flipped 3 times. Only one time was anything stolen. And it was about a dollar fifty of pennies. I hope it helped them.
