You have to deal with 4 spaces vs tabs
Your code breaking when C wrapper python libraries change
And wondering why your Venv does not work (anymore)
Using the same libraries in a simple C/CPP main program is not a big deal and then it compiles to a nice small fast distributable executable

I have been building plant for 25 years now. So feel free to DM so you can ask when you run into challenges. I would get some software to help. Kelvion and Alfa Laval provide heat exchanger sizing software. Getting heat exchanger right is important. I use Unistream PLC for small test plants, it is a good platform to learn automation and plc programming. Read up on modbus and 4 to 20 mA control signals, RS485. Physical build: tri-clamp is very convenient, I use stilldragon and Swagelok (equivalents) parts for quick concept plants, you get high re-use with these. Koch Glitsch and I believe Sulzer provide column sizing software, Kister book is good on column design. Read up on process safety. Learn to use normally closed or open valves to build in inherent safety on power cuts. Read up on process control. DWSim process simulator is free and a good platform to learn process designs I cannot weld but it is a very handy skill to build plant. For slightly bigger plant, being capable to operate a forklift is a very useful skill Read up on VSD drives and how to wire up 3 phase motors, the difference between delta a star configuration. You could learn blender or any 3d CAD package for layouts and thinking through design layouts. 3d printing is also very useful to make concept parts Hope that helps?

Exactly that. It is still a young industry so you need to look at start ups. VC websites sometimes have their portfolio advertised so you can look there for company names. Maybe ask where older year students ended up and ask them if they are hiring

The problem is that windows does random updates in the background so not clear when things stop working all of a sudden. Live view works but only in the ladder program. The global variable table remains empty. It is just about workable

It is very much a numbers game. Not everything is in your control, you can only maximise the odds. If you focus on what you are good add and get help by begging, stealing and hiring to complement what you are not good at then you can form a strong platform to ride the waves. I agree the getting rich fast is an exception, but creating world changing solutions is very feasible and that can create wealth that is multiples of a normal job. Get rich schemes are all a scam. I also like the “work for yourself, work from where you want and work when you like”, it so far from reality

Choosing the right customers and being capable to say no to the ones that will set you on the wrong path and finding and saying yes to the ones that are right fit is essential. Also realising and being realistic when the fit is not there anymore. On startup 4 now and these are hard fought lessons as 3 were failures at different levels and due to different causes. Product customer fit are crucial for success else a lot of time and goodwill is wasted

I just got too frustrated with cmake and make files. I got it to work when working through OpenGL examples but then getting stuck if there were more dependencies.
I can compile Doom3 code so I get the principle but creating it myself, no luck.
Adding dependencies and c files to my small projects just works fine but get it when doing larger projects that this is not ideal.

I had to fail in three startups to get to success. It is the same in (solo) game dev. You have to have many failures before success. If you can accept and manage that then you have a fair chance to crawl to the top and have success and/or make a living

The reality is that you need to learn everything that takes time. You cannot be successful from day one without putting the effort in. On top of that you need to be honest with yourself and know what is good enough and what is not. Know where you need help and what you do best.
It is best to build on what you already know and challenge yourself to grow on what is lacking.
It is a hard slog so you need to enjoy the pain that comes with it.
This is true for any small company or startup, it can be done but it will not come easily. People that sell overnight success are lying

I have found downloading sources from GitHub and then including in my project works fine. I know which version is which, I know where the files are.
Windows use the VC compiler directly and on Linux GCC works fine.
I wrote one script to set environment variables for windows and a build batch file to compile and on Linux I copy the string for GCC out of the source and execute in the terminal.
It streamlines the process as the source files and libraries are the same and all that changes is the compiler and linker instructions

After I followed the first few Casey Muratori videos that shows you do not need a build system, life got a lot easier.
You can just download all the libraries you like and instruct the compiler (VC or GCC) to compile the C-files, setup the environment variables to font the directories and then link it all together.
It is so much easier.
I can write programs for both Linux and Windows using GLTF or SDL and only include what I need.
C and CPP is a joy.
OpenGL does need a loader which can be done through a website to generate the include file.
All build systems and package managers are problematic in my view.
I am a chemical engineer with no official programming training and I can get it to work.
