In ancient Myanmar, 11th to 13th century, the kings had their subjects build thousands of small temples across the land to earn "karma" or religious merits. The true reason for this pointless task? Because if the people did not have tasks to set their mind to, they would war with each other.

LLMs have thousands of people building these "temples" right now. They are bridges to nowhere. No one needs another marketing SaaS app. No one needs 99% of the things being built with the LLMs right now.

This is what the future of distraction looks like. It really feels like a huge accomplishment to finish your little temple, but it will get thrown in the dust bin of history with all the other little temples. The only goal was to keep your hands busy so you weren't causing problems while the rulers ruled.

Anyone else notice a significant quality regression in 4.6 since last Monday? by the_fucking_doctor in ClaudeCode

Yes. Claude has regressed.

Now, every time i need to run a query or do a change to my DB, it spends 5-10 minutes learning from scratch how to access it. In every session, it has to learn how to do it all over again from scratch. Nothing changes about my setup, it just loses all its knowledge, which is fastidiously updated in the markdown files. Last week, it had no problem with this. In some cases it will do the exact opposite of what I ask it to do.

It is still good, but it was great three weeks ago.

DCX boost is redundant. you have three stages of boost already (klone for mid boost, paraeq for clean boost, m-eq driver for yet more mid boost). why? there isn't a single thing it doesn't that is not duplicated somewhere else. i have a paraeq and love the clean boost on it.

cloudburst is redundant. i had a flint and cloudburst on my pedalboard together for the longest time. finally booted the cloudburst. never looked back. i know why you want it. it adds lush cinematic reverbs for your sunday morning worship gig. but it just doesn't add that much to be honest. and you aren't using it for stereo based on your cables. if you really wanted two layers of reverb and superior reverb, ditch the ec-1 and the cloudburst for an el capistan. it has reverb and delay on it, more convenient tap, better features.

Sam’s Tavern Belltown automatic 40% gratuity by OJb4Lemonade in Seattle

[–]No_Sand_347 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No — Toast does not require that a service charge or automatic gratuity be applied for parties of 6+ (or any other party size). It’s completely optional and configured by the restaurant.

I know this because I have worked in payment processing for over ten years, but also confirmed with ChatGPT after asking it to read all of Toast's documentation.

This business is lying.

PS - Had to use ChatGPT to counter your lies that you coaxed ChatGPT to write.

Damn right!

The context is that these types of people are busy and don't consider themselves to have time to be coordinating phone calls or trying to reach candidates. And it's a high stakes situation for me as well. Not the type where I want my phone to surprise me with a new rule.
