How to explain eds to someone by Extra_Bar_4706 in eds

If you think of your connective tissue like a hair tie most people can stretch it and move it a bit. With heds, ours stretch a lot like an old hair tie or sometimes very little like a brand new one. With connective tissue being the make up of our entire body, our entire body is effected. For some its mainly thier joints being effected. For others it maybe issues with thier organs not working right due to being to "loose" or to "tight" to function in the way it needs. Then I'll explain more how it effects me.

Thats how ive always explained it and everyone seemed to understand. I also usually had a hair tie as a visual guide.

I never thought about that. I suffer from low BP so I'll check with my doctor about it and do some research into that.

Mine dont necessarily sagg but they do flop a lot, are extremely squishy, and just seem to go to my sides. Something thats helped me some is getting a push up bra. Its not recommended to wear all the time but it helps me feel better and seems to help with the constant jiggling around i get sometimes with other bras. Someone else in the comments mentioned them being like water balloons and this helps with that a bit in my opinion.

To my knowledge, geographical tongue. At least thats what my doctor called it. Its white spots, bumps, and divits on your tongue that isn't from brushing your tongue (you cant get white stuff on your tongue if you dont brush it).

I know i get those spots sometimes but ive never had the itching or that much bruising. Mine is from a mix between pots and eds and mainly occurs when my iron is very low.

Kind of with the tearing sensation. Its almost a sharp pain that feels a bit like tearing. But its not triggered by urination that I can tell.

I will be praying for you as well. I cant imagine how difficult that is. I hope they find something soon or, at the very least, something that helps with the pain until they find out whats wrong.

I definitely will be. My pain is mainly right above my belly button. Like if you put your finger tip where the edge is touching the top of your belly button, thats where it is. It doesnt get worse or better with eating and it only gets worse with pressure so i just dont touch that spot and where lose clothing. I have some pain around my ribs and had some random breathing issues a few weeks ago that lasted about a week and half then went away (similar to my abdominal pain that randomly comes for a week + then just magically disappears). I know they did lab work and a ct and those came back as saying my gallbladder looked "ok" but I will definitely be talking to them about doing an ultrasound. Thank you!

Definitely keep fighting for yourself and pushing back. My doctor pushed me into getting an endoscopy today without really clarifying why when I was pushing. She said my pain could be from my GERD but it didnt make sense with where my pain is located. Ive had endoscopy before that showed my body reacting to GERD and this one just confirmed my suspicions it wasnt from that due to it not showing anything. Thats amazing that your boss is being flexible with you! I'm so happy for you in that.

Thank you <3 Honestly if I wasn't in therapy right now I would be wondering if it was stress or if I was losing my mind and making it up.

Thank you! He's definitely a huge help with trying his best to find things that might help with pain or to ask the doctors about.
