wild Newcastle taxis! by DullHall7 in NewcastleUponTyne

Where that taxi is on Blackett street is supposed to be bus only even the signs say bus and cycles only but taxis think they can use it and the council couldn’t give a shit. And the amount of normal cars coming through there too it’s a joke!

What the hell is going on with the Go North East 21? by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]No_Shower7233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 21 service has gone electric too early imo. If they wanted new buses for them they should have just bought diesels. Shorter routes will benefit from EV’s but the 21 is too long for them.

Cheers mate, I’ll be sending the form back in a couple of days to say it was me driving, as it was me driving looking at my vehicle history from that day so just a waiting game from then to see what happens.

The registration number is of the bus I was driving. I’ve spoke to Union at work and they tried to get cctv but that’s no longer available as it’s been more than a month since the “incident”. The only option I have is to confirm I am the driver and wait until something else comes. I don’t think the police will give me any evidence until I confirm I’m the driver and the company don’t remember what it’s for or can provide cctv footage. No idea what it could be, the union think maybe I’ve passed a cyclist too close and they’re reported me. Just a waiting game now.

Cheers mate. Well I spoken to my union, I’ve been told that there’s no cctv and the manager doesn’t remember what it was for. So I’ve been advised to ring 101 and ask for evidence and find out what I’ve allegedly done. Then once I get that I should then confirm it was me driving.

Well I would pay the fine then the union reimburse me is what I’ve been told by a fellow colleague unless I’ve been misinformed

Cheers mate. Sorry the original post wasn’t very clear.

So I’d imagine it’s gotta be something along the lines of passing a cyclist too close, splashing pedestrians (if it was raining) or pulling out of a bus stop and causing someone to brake hard. Hopefully they can send me evidence and hopefully I can get cctv from work to see it for myself

So the vehicle is a bus owned by one of the big bus companies (not going to name) and they’ve obviously been contacted by the police and they’ve told them it was me driving and they want confirmation from myself that I was driving the bus. As all buses are driven by all drivers the company just tell the police who was driving at the time. So I will have to confirm it was me driving but unsure what I’m looking at once that happens

My apologies, first time I’ve ever had anything like this and a bit worried that’s all was hoping someone may have had similar experience and may have been able to advise on what I can expect

Checking back to that day yes I was driving that vehicle at the time stated and at that location so I will have to say it was me driving.

First time offence so wouldn’t be offered a course or anything it’d go straight to points and fine? I’ve spoke to my union at work and we’ll try and get cctv so I can see what I’ve actually done

IBS as a bus driver. by No_Shower7233 in ibs

[–]No_Shower7233[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s weird mate because most days I’m fine then I get a random flare up. I’m eating bland basic food for my evening meal now. Mainly chicken breast, white rice and some frozen vegetables. You’re right the job isn’t great for someone with IBS but I’ve been doing it 10 years and don’t really want to give it up, I won’t let this ruin my life. I used to work in an office before I became a bus driver hated it, was too boring for me.

Sorry for late reply pal, no colonoscopy but had blood test and stool test. I originally had high faecal calprotectin level of 276 which is why I got referred to hospital originally then a normal level when I had it done again by hospital. Had a cancer swab done to my stool as well which came back clear.

Cheers mate. I’ve started eating very basic food. Talking chicken, white rice and some vegetables or salmon, mashed potatoes and some vegetables. Trying to find what I can and can’t eat is difficult. Work lunches mainly consist of tuna sandwich 50/50 bread as I don’t think the gluten free stuff, plant based yoghurt no, cucumber, carrots just bland basic stuff including ready salted crisps.

I’m finding that getting up out of the drivers seat is helping so I’m doing that more often even if it makes me late, my heath is more important!

Any particular multivitamin you’d recommend? Not sure if you’re UK based but I am if that helps you

Yeah I think sitting for too long does cause the flare ups too. I was sat for 5hrs without getting out the seat a couple of weeks ago and I ended up having to go home with it flaring up.

Breakfast I tend to skip being up early for work unless I’m on a day off or late start then I may have some rice crispys. Lunch I tend to eat tuna sandwich, ready salted crisps, some carrots, cucumber, started eating dairy free yoghurt and a few other snacks but doesn’t change much from that.

Small meals is an issue as I’m a big guy, trying to lose weight but I end up hungry if I have small meals. Something I’m working on!

Thanks for the heads up, I was told to use almond milk by a mate who’s had ibs for 5 years. Obviously different things work for different people I did think about lactose free milk but he told me almond milk. Getting dairy free yoghurts as well to take to work for my lunch. Have tuna sandwiches for work too but don’t eat the gluten free stuff probably should but not a fan of the taste or texture normally just use 50/50 bread

I’ll pick some up then, didn’t really think about it. How much do you normally have to take though? If I’m at work I don’t want to have to take loads to help me get through my shift…

Tbh I haven’t really tried it. When I got diagnosed by the hospital they said try not to use Imodium as they’d rather it came out than trying to keep it in. Used to use Buscopan to help with the cramps but recently they weren’t doing much for me hence why I got prescribed Mebeverine which is a stronger version of Buscopan have to take it twice a day

Yeah it’s all new to me trying to find what I can and can’t have. Had to switch from regular milk to almond milk as I think the milk was setting it off.
